Hooray for the Europeans! I am pretty happy they get a chance to try out this title without having to go through the trouble of importing it. They haven't had a Ys title since Ys Strategy and it wasn't good from what I hear. I highly suggest playing Memories of Celceta, its based off the 2 Ys IVs that were made by both Hudson Soft and Sammy. Its part remake and part sequel according to the official site terms.

Yeah, things get a little muddled with Ys, but you're correct from what I've ready as well. I've been playing it and it's been quite a bit of fun. Some of the monsters are a little annoying, but it is enjoyable. The exploration that it encourages is very nice even if it does feel very gated right now. That's been my only issue. You can't go everywhere from the start, you have to progress and gain abilities or characters to get through roadblocks.

Yeah, I personally haven't played Memories yet, but someday I hope to. I heard that the game is full of sidequests and make sure to do them, they both add to the story, as well as add extra scenes both to players who are fans of the other Ys IV games and newcomers. I can't say too much on that because there will be spoilers.

You can tell I'm pretty big into the Ys series knowing as much as i do of what the series is about.

Yeah, I'm going to see about the platinum for it. Since it is on a handheld I should be able to do it. They say it is only a 40 hour plat. I've been picking up all of the quests, not sure if they'd be considered side quests, but they're pretty generic nothing story related. So there might be other things out there that are the side quests. It's my first Ys game, but I've wanted to try them out. I enjoy action RPGs. It's a little annoying that even though you can have two others with you they won't attack. They will only pick up loot or attack harvesting points.

Well the side quests I'm referring to are the ones you get by talking to the NPCs throughout all of Celceta. Make sure to collect those memories as well! What do you think of the Ys series from the one you picked up first?

So far it seems pretty standard. Nothing yet that really makes it stand out from the rest of the games I've played. There is a lot of fairly addicting things in the exploration so that's good.

I'm sure it will pick up eventually. Ys games always had a fascinating story to me. Of course it shares its similarities to the Zelda games with the exploration and treasures.

As for your allies in the game? Is there a way to change their tactics in the inventory screen to change what they do? Memories of Celceta is the 2nd game in the Ys franchise to use a party system. Before then it was a 1 person adventure.
