Re: And we thought Sony were having a bad month...
Clearly the hackers were trying to get information on Deus Ex. Besides the possibilities listed in the article as to what they hackers could do with what they stole I fail to see a reason as to hacking SE. Perhaps it was just the target they chose. SE seems like an odd target and they haven't been "upsetting" anybody like Sony. Indeed it gets tiresome, its stupid, and a shame that people would pull a d*** move such as what has been reported. In the end nobody may take responsibility or claim responsibility, usually it's a good idea not to direct attention if the person committed the crime. Maybe they weren't looking for fame and if they were it is clear that the person(s) are not all there if they feel accomplishment/pride from hacking into SE's websites.
Like in all forms of stealing I do not condone this recent action taken at the expense of SE and its "customers". In the case of SE it does not appear to be similar to Sony's case where there are rumors flying around as to whom had done the deed. Nor Statements of denial or accusation.
Why would any of us disclose that we hired assassin(s). Then they would know whose trying to assassinate them. Unless of course, the plotter puts their name on the list as well to not draw suspicion.

Re: And we thought Sony were having a bad month...
Well, this is by no means an action of which any one would approve, but I also find it strange that they would have target SE. They do annoy me from time to time, but never anything too serious to even bring to mind the thought of hacking into their systems. I could probably try to understand that some would have a reason to hack Sony or Microsoft. For example, when the Xbox360's where dying left and right on people years back, I could understand that people would be mad at MS for releasing a faulty system (still wouldn't approve of hacking systems).
Whatever the reason, this is just sad. Weather for fame and glory or cash and bling, this sort of actions just damages the trust of players on the gaming companies and I would say it hurts the entire gaming industry as a whole.

Really, now Square is a victim?
Whoever did this is just annoying. Though I do not condone any form of hacking, I can understand Sony: credit cards and other personal info. Square the only sites were a site on Deus Ex and a Canadian branch. Maybe I get the Canadian stuff: resumes which had everything but credit cards. The Deus Ex hack probably just wanted cred, or maybe wanted extra information, which is a stupid reason as they maybe only had another character stretch or small part of the plot extras. If s/he is on this site (god forbid) let me just say that you have screwed us over for your own selfish benefit, or maybe you thought that you would get cred that no sane person would give, as you are now hated by a large portion of this site. Square is a good friend of ours (even if some of us didn't approve of SquareSoft's new wife) and you hurt them.
The movie Hackers isn't real. You will be arrested and jailed. There is no society to give you fame. Angelina Jolie will not make out with you. Give it up.

FINISH HIM!
