    Trinity Universe

Hmm, I suppose this game isn't too popular, eh? In any case, I'm sure there are lots of people here who are familiar with Nippon Ichi Software, the creator of the Disgaea series. Along those lines if you know about Mana Khemia or Atelier, then you'll know Gust Corporation developed those series, as well. Also, Idea Factory made the Spectral series of role-playing games if you've heard of those.

What does all that have to do with anything? Well, Nippon Ichi, Gust, and Idea Factory joined together and developed a new game--outside a series--that had characters from Disgaea and Atelier as well as an original cast of characters. It's a role-playing game exclusively for the Playstation 3 with the expected humor hugely incorporated into the main storyline, while still retaining a decent, though kind of random, plot. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was pretty nice.

Furthermore, the game lets you choose to play as one of two characters--The Demon Dog King Kanata or the Valkyrie Rizelea. Each offers the protagonist's perspective and how the two sides--each with their own teammates--progressed throughout the game and inevitably met. Flonne and Etna of Disgaea appear on opposite sides.

For gameplay, it's a game that uses AP to fight. Basically, you have a number that decreases gradually and as you execute attacks or abilities. You can perform actions until the gauge runs out. It reminded me a lot of Eternal Sonata, actually, except you remain in one place, and you can't move around. You can also perform greater skills if you press a sequence of buttons specifically (i.e. [] [] X []), as well as chain one sequence to another. I thought it was rather unique.

Anyway, I bought this game a couple weeks ago and I'm currently getting Trophies for it. I absolutely loved it from the moment I bought it. The humor is insane, the memes that appear are priceless, and the manga/anime expressions and design, I thought, were beautifully done. It was also nice to see characters I knew from other games (Etna and Flonne) in 3-D. The game has a lot to do, and different endings depending on what you accomplish, so you'll have lots of hours to play. The one thing that gets me is how broken it can get once you beat it the first time. But nonetheless, it's truly an addicting game.

Anyone else heard of it, wanted to get it, or has played it?

Heard of it, want it, will almost definitely have to import it (thanks to Australia getting screwed over a ton).
I've heard it's like a better, 3D Cross Edge and despite it's faults, I've been getting a good deal of enjoyment out of that title so I can guess I'd enjoy Trinity Universe as well.

Wow, I'm surprised there's someone else that played it. I thought I was the only one around here that played those niche titles. I thoroughly loved Trinity Universe. I completed both Kanata and Rizeala's stories. The game gets pretty broken when you do new game plus with the convert system that they added.

But I did manage to get the true ending and I think I have like 50% of the trophy points or whatever you want to call it. They have a lot of long grinding stuff that is required.

I totally get what you're saying, Andro. xD It seems like these kinds of RPGs are just hiding back there. And yeah, it's that Convert Shop that makes the game so broken. You can easily max out every stat for a cheap price. It just takes patience to click X over and over and over again. >_>

And aye, some of the trophies take way too much time. The one in particular I'm thinking about is the one that requires you to drift a hundred objects out of orbit. Drifting just fifteen took me like three hours, so that's like what, twenty hours of doing the same thing over and over? Ugh. I'm going to persistent and try it, but for some reason I doubt I'll make it. =o

The drift a 100 things out of orbit and drift out with 50 things (I think) are going to be the most annoying ones. Most of the rest I think can be achieved through the process of getting the things sent out of orbit. There is the getting 1 million evaluation points, which will probably be found through all of the drifting. The other problem is that it takes a long time sometimes to get the items to return back after you sent them. So you could be sleeping in the inn for a lot.

I have sit down and do the 1000 hits one which isn't too bad, you just need them to be low level enough not to totally slaughter everything. Fortunately, there are asteroids that give you a ton of AP so the AP isn't actually going to be a problem. I remember one of my characters have some really crazy stats and just laughing at the ridiculous nature of what I had just done compared to the first play through.
