    Thats it, I quit.

Quit dota. Life begins anew. What should I do with my spare time and newly found sanity?

I have never seen something bring out negativity not just among strangers as well as friends, than this game has. Sure, you could say you cant blame the game but rather blame the individual, but if you said that you'd be the ignorant one. Ive been playing this consistently for over 8 years, and nothing has ever changed. It has one of the single most abusive, terrible ****ing communities I've ever experienced. Its hard to drop a habit after so long, but I honestly believe I wont ever play this game again.

Fallout 4 comes out soon. You could dump your time into that. Or for a multiplayer experience, Grand Theft Auto IV and V are always a good choice.

    Windows Solitaire could also work.

Come join us in Final Fantasy XIV. Overall one of the friendliest MMO communities and the game is just fun to play, especially for long term Final Fantasy fans. There's plenty to keep you busy for years to come as well.

Its all games brah, people are assholes. Wow, dota, smite, CSGO, *insert any multiplayer game here*

I spend my days now playing smite, which also has alot of assholes, but the game is fun and enjoyable to follow/watch the competitive leagues.

There is nothing much else to play, so I'll continue to smite until overwatch comes out

Then we shall complain of the amount of dicks in that game too, bless the internet, bless anonymity!

    OH LAWDY BLESS MAH SOUL-AAAA!

I got pretty far in FF14 before I stopped playing, I think perhaps binding coil number 6? I think we were fighting some kind of ochu, but the latency was that split second too slow and I would find that even after I left the AOE circle, I was still getting damaged from it. Ended up realising that if I didnt watch how bosses were fought before hand, would have a very hard time playing it. It took a lot of the appeal of the game away for me. Especially considering how nasty people could also be. I know this is precisely the reason you join an FC, but due to time differences which also conflict with my work/sleep and your work/sleep, I dont really see it working out too well.

Yeah but people dont really care about winning so much on cs;GO in my experience, so its a much lighter way of having fun. That being said, I think im done with online gaming. I hate online gaming. I prefer to just be a loner and play my single player games. What bloody hipster decided everyone should integrate social media/multiplayer in every bloody game? I play gatmes precisely so I dont have to deal with other people. Games for me a relaxing experiencing and to be enjoyed, I dont want the stress of being competitive anymore against ... psychopaths.

I can only like a post once, but I would have liked it four times if I could have, for the bolded reasons:

For me, single player games are really where it's at. There's plenty of challenge built into single player games. Sure, a single player game's longevity isn't the greatest once I've solved every puzzle and finished every side-quest. But the fun, fulfilling games are very much replayable even if I've conquered them completely. See: many older RPGs, the Mario games, the Castlevania games (shout-out to Symphony of the Night), some Assassin's Creed games, etc.

Man, I would really like to know. It's pretty pervasive, isn't it? Everyone is getting on board with the social media stuff, not just the game companies. I just ordered some tea off Amazon. Amazon wanted me to tweet the purchase and share it with my friends. Who the **** cares that I just bought some tea? No one does! Likewise, who the **** cares that I just gained twelve achievements in WoW? No one does!

Frankly, I'm pretty afraid of the achievements they'll add to Final Fantasy VII: Remake.

I agree wholeheartedly. While I know every player out there isn't a complete scumbag---and I've met many quality individuals from playing multiplayer games---the scumbags tend to be the most visible and vocal, and tend to sacrifice the fun of others for their own amusement. It becomes more of a game of "stay-away-from-the-scumbags" for me than anything else, and really shoots in the foot the point of a MMO.

Competition is good, but competition + scumbags is bad. I prefer couch multiplayer, with close friends whom I know won't rage or fume from a loss, when I want to hone my competitive edge. If they become a scumbag, well... there are consequences of that. There are also benefits, like being able to kick them out and the pleasure of never inviting them to my home again. It's a guaranteed lifetime ban---a ban for which I don't have to report the player and pray the game-moderating staff get it right.
    Hero façade. Villain at heart.

There's always Super Mario Maker. You get to make sweet mario levels, unlock tools to make them even more unique. If you don't feel like making mario levels you can always play ones people upload to the online server. The online community for the game is pretty good.

I stopped messing with competitive games in general. Was never to big into DOTA but played League quite a bit for a few years. The atmosphere was just awful. People do nothing but shit talk everyone and bring down the entire game. Was big into competitive CS:GO for a while got myself up to Global Elite and was playing with a legit comp team but slowly all those guys just started being dicks to each other so I left. All I pretty much play anymore is Minecraft or single player rpg games cause tired of douches. Also started playing Smite there are less assholes there than other games I have played but still a bunch.

Sitting here waiting for Rocky, and Che to notice me!!

I like MMOs, but only if I can find chill people or IRL friends to play them with. I used to Raid in WoW a lot, but I never joined any of the elitist douche raid groups in the big servers. I played a in shitty little server full of crap players with a bunch of drunken trolls. We'd spend half our time trying to get each other killed rather than completing shit, and yet I still managed to hit top 10s on the Wowhead rankings on multiple fights. I just don't understand the hardcore ****ery, you can do well without having a stick up your ass about it.

Good. Online multiplayer games are stupid, because they're full of actual living people, and people are the worst. The way I see it, if you want to play multiplayer, invite people over and play split screen, instead of playing with a bunch of strangers that you would probably hate in real life.

Plus people online are way too serious and competitive. The purpose of a game is to have fun, but if you're stressing out about it, getting competitive and pissed off, the game itself becomes redundant. The only reason anybody should get competitive over a video game is if they're being paid to win. If money isn't involved, it's just stupid.
