So so far, we got six characters from Mario (7 if you count Donkey Kong) 3 characters from Zelda, 2 from Kirby, and then one character representing every other game... a bit more diversity would be cool. Still irritated by the generic Wii Fit Trainer.

I guess we won't be getting any tales of character that there was speculation of when we heard of namco's partnership. No Cless Alvin for me *sigh* at least we have a decent roster.

I've created a checklist from the Brawl roster to give you a visual representation of what characters have yet to be announced. Below is a list of whose name has yet to be called:

█ Snake - Yeah, he's probably gone.
█ Ike - Will the other blue-haired swordsman reemerge?
█ Pokemon Trainer - Was a cool concept for a character. Will he return with the same holy trinity of Pokemon?
█ Falco - One of my favorites. I will be kind of upset if he doesn't make the cut.
█ Meta Knight - I won't lose sleep if he doesn't come back.
█ Diddy Kong - Will Donkey Kong's second banana return?
█ Yoshi - There's no way they could leave Yoshi off this roster. No way.
█ Ganondorf - Ditto Yoshi. You can't exclude one third of the Zelda series tri-force.
█ Ice Climbers - Veteran idiots. Will Nintendo finally (FINALLY) remove them?
█ Wolf - Eh, he's probably not return-----LANDMASTER!
█ Lucario - HE'S IN
█ Ness - Ness has to be on the roster. Right? ....right? (I never did like him, though I loved Earthbound to death.)
█ Wario - He's probably coming back.
█ R.O.B. - Doubt it.
█ Captain Falcon - Someone will get falcon punched in the nuts if he is excluded.
█ Jigglypuff - Gotta be honest, I'd rather he/she/it not return. Probably will.
█ Lucas - I could take him or leave him. The country of Japan would likely disagree.
Random - The most likely opponent to return from this list.

The list is pretty telling. If they are indeed aiming for fewer characters on the roster, I doubt there will be many more new entrants announced. Sorry Waluigi. You might be stuck as an assist trophy.

If it was, I wouldn't know. I don't really follow the Pokemon franchise but I thought they would put in some Pokemon that's popular now, from one of their new games or something.

Still it's pretty surprising to see Lucario announced before Jigglypuff.

There was a news post around saying Sakurai was impressed with Lightning Returns: FFXIII. Could he be considering Lightning as another playable character? or is it Sakurai just simply commenting on how great he thought Lightning Returns is?

I think Mario was the one to use it here against Samus. You can see him peeking out from behind Mother Brain's base. I do like the idea of backfiring assist trophies though.

My worst fear realized: Waluigi confirmed to be back as an assist trophy, which of course means he won't be a newcomer.

Lots of new stuff announced at Nintendo Direct today. Lots! Including four (technically two) new characters and a returning character!

• Sheik is now her own character with some moveset tweaks!
• Zero Suit Samus is now her own character with some moveset tweaks!
• Yoshi returns, now having an upright posture instead of his dinosaur posture.
• Charizard joins the battle---on his own! I guess he ditched his trainer and the other two.
• Greninja joins that battle---who the **** is Greninja?!

Some new items:

• POW Block (!!!)
• Rocket Belt from Pilotwings
• Bombchus!
• Elec Man assist trophy!
• Pong assist trophy!
• Midna assist trophy!
• Chain Chomp assist trophy!
• Dark Samus assist trophy!
• ...and a whole lot more

Final Smashes:

• Mega Man's final smash incorporates four other versions of Mega Man (X, Legends, Battle Network, one I don't know?) to form a quintuple charge shot.
• Villager's final smash incorporates Tom Nook and Tommy/Timmy. They build a house that explodes.
• Rosalina's final smash is a Star that shoots out shooting stars everywhere.

I think I'd still play this just because its smash bros, they brought in mega man, and nintendo network performs MUCH better than Nintendo Wi-Fi so the brawls will be much less trouble.

A customizable Mii Fighters character makes its debut. Fine by me. Looks neat.
