    Screw this

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Soundtrack - Crazy Chocobo - YouTube Link related in that its comments spawned the thread.

This is a thread for people who just like to complain rather than do something more constructive.

Ever have it where a series you liked sort of just fell flat after a while? Can you pinpoint exactly when it happened?

It happened to me with the Ace Attorney series. I loved the first 3 games. The 4th installment came out and all-in-all it was decent, but I felt it could have been so much better. Then the first Edgeworth game came out and everything came crashing down. The gameplay wasn't bad and the story was passable, but the way everything was written made it all seem so idiotic. They shoehorned in cameos as often as possible to up the appeal, but it just got annoying after a while. By the end of final case I really just wanted it to be done and over with. BUT IT WOULDN'T END.

After beating the game that night I sobbed into my pillow. Things haven't been the same since then. The world is gray and bleak now.

    Re: Screw this

Your thread is looking lonely, S. Let me help.

Final Fantasy fell flat for me when they started making all the damned sequels to FF7. I don't like the character models, style, gameplay, etc.. It seems about that time that they decided they were going to start making interactive movies instead of RPG's, culminating in FF13 for me. To me, it is important for a Role Playing Game to allow me to make different choices. Where I go next, what I do, etc. Let me go off the beaten path. Let me interact with the world beyond fighting monsters and making weapons. Give me more than 7 NPC's to talk to. Also, I'd loved the FF series for its often times unique and interesting characters. In FF13, I felt like the "unique" part was kind of missing (although I suppose the "interesting" part was still there.) Didn't care much for Dissidia either.

The Metroid series was great for me up until Super Metroid. I bet I'd enjoy the GBA titles, but I never got them when they were new, and they'd probably cost an arm and leg now. Prime seemed like it would've been a cool game... if I could get past the control scheme. I hear the Wii versions of those games are much better though, so maybe I'll try those some day. Anyway, now, I have Other M... I find that I don't like the design of the world or the gameplay. Samus hanging out with space marines also kinda makes me go "Eh." And I haven't gotten far enough into the game to see the thing people complain about most, which is Samus' relationship with Adam.

Warcraft fell flat when they decided to change it from a RTS to a MMORPG.

I spent many nights complaining on the official Socom forums because that series took a nose diver after Socom II. Socom II was such a good skill-based competitive game and they've slowly whittled it down to a generic shooter that doesnt really stand out from any other game. makes me

Mortal Kombat after 3 to me it just wasn't doing it. I never played anything after 3 except Armageddon and that was ew. Some people I know say they started to hate MK after 4, and some said when Deception came out it was like wtf but for me it was after 3.

Kingdom Hearts. I can still find enjoyment in the games, but man, is it getting really convoluted with all the prequels and midquels shoved around in the storyline...

Also, that chocobo song is awful.

    Re: Screw this

The only one I can think of is Soul Calibur. 1 was good, 2 was absolutely amazing, then it started to go downhill. I remember putting in hours and hours each on the PS2 and Gamecube versions of SCII, and then something happened to the series.

Saying that though, 3 was OK, but it was certainly lacking something. Then 4 came out and it is on my list of biggest disappointments in games. I don't know what it was, perhaps it was the shortest story mode I have ever played in a fighting game? Could it have been the complete lack of classic Master mode? Or it could be the online lag that makes online play almost impossible? Hopefully SCV restores my faith in the series.
