hey everyone is anyone get a ps4 in November. i'm getting one and they are thinking of doing a backwards compaterbility so you can plasy ur ps3 games. im looking forward th ff13 lighting returns to come out next year 2014. i'm getting that game I am. and while on the subject had anyone heard about ffx and ffx-2 remastered in HD that's also for the ps3. im getting that also.

From one corner I hear it won't be backwards compatible yet in the other corner there is suggestions that it will be.
Is it true sony have now introduced a playstation plus subscription similar to xbox gold membership? that will put a chip in a few plates seeing as the ps3 was free online gaming so I was told. Where as 360users can just transfer their membership over to an xbox one.
Look I guess it's down to what ever floats your boat and what exclusive games you want access to, I would love to have each for a week to make a valid decision though although I'm thinking it will be a solid decision to stick to my 360 for a while so many games I still have to play.
Both MS and Sony seem to be making vague promises that Downloadable games from 360 and ps3 will be accessible to the xbone and ps4 in the future though and with the power of tech I daresay it may come to fruition.

If I was to slam MS to the ground even more, I'd do backwards compatibility on PS4 for all their previous games to just show I care about their customers. Sony should do that and win even more brownies.
It's a bit to late now, but if you could download old gen games to the new gen consoles that would be a win on both sides no matter who does it first.

I think you can. You could on PS3 anyways. I think Sony won't ditch this option. I really hope it doesn't, it's more money making opportunity for it anyways.
I'm not sure to what extent things will be downloadable. Part of the reason the PS4 doesn't have true backwards compatibility with the PS3 is because the processors are so different, they're legitimately incompatible. PS3 games will have to be streamed to the PS4 over teh intarwebz - processed offsite and sent to the user. We don't yet know exactly what this will entail; whether you need to re-purchase things you already own or if they have a way of comping the streaming to you via trophy logs or whatnot... not really sure.

I was kinda hoping that it could play older games (sorry Loco, I tried to read you post but all the big words went right over my head).
At this point it seems a little late to be wanting a ps3, I'd still be playing catchup by the time the ps5 or whatever roles around.

Well, yes, PS+ is required *only for online multiplayer* and nothing else. But the difference between PS+ and Xbox Live, is that PS+ will *still* give you free games and all that lovely stuff that it has. Does Xbox Live ever give free games or discounts? Not that I know of.
New XBL service will give two free games per month.

Overall XBox Live may be a better service (or so I heard), but when it comes to discounts and free games it has nothing on PS Plus (Angry Joe is not really impresed by so called discounts on XBox Live so far). My jaw dropped when I saw names and amount of free games PS Plus users got so far, just look at this months free games, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, LittleBigPlanet Karting, XCOM: Enemy Unknown...

Interesting comments. All I can really say is that my bf did a ton of research on the ps4 vs xbox 1 and he said the ps4 is the clear winner as did the sites he looked on. As usual people will say it is personal preferences but many xbox owners we know are going to buy the ps4 instead of the xbox. I think this speaks for itself no matter how many xbox fanboys debate it the ps4 is the better machine in all respects and if you don't believe me research it yourself and if you can prove me and my bf wrong on this then do it!
I'll most likely not be getting either xbox or ps... i never play any games on the 360, only ever used it when i borrowed it of my brother to play FF13

Yeah, I feel pretty much the same way about console games now. For $400, it's better to add another 200 and get a good PC that will run all these games and for way, way cheaper. Not to mention, fps + controllers suck, at least for me. Nothing's better than a mouse + keyboard.

I would never play FPS on a console. never
I love console's for RPG and action games. Consoles have some of the best RPG games ever created. PC can only emulate them, which is almost never near as good as an experience when compared to playing them via console.
I myself prefer PC, however, purely from video game standpoint I see how one may choose console over PC...
- games do not require to be installed (although I never found this to be a major issue on PC)
- you don't have to upgrade your console at all for quite some time
- exclusives such as Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted...
- services such as PS Plus where you get tons of free games for mere 5 a month
- mobility
etc

Money would probably be the biggest reason a lot of people choose a console over a PC.
Yeah, but after like 5-10 games they will be paying more, as console games are way more expensive. If you're a serious gamer, consoles will make you pay serious cash as well. Then there are always those games where you need a console, so you gotta have them as well.
Physical copies of games by major publishers are often the same price on both PC and consoles, PC does have advantage as far as digital copies go thanks to services such as Steam and GOG (and even there, mostly Steam, brand new games by major publishers tend to go up to 50-55$), but you can't sell those, then you have used games... in the long run you certainly pay more for console games but not as much as some seem to believe.
