PS3 Slim?

what do ya'll mean "you people?" Is there something that I'm not aware of here?

Personally I am quite upset that the slim PS3 has no more backwards compatability. I was considering getting one up until that point, because I had a lot of unfinished PS2 games that I never got around to playing due to my PS2 dying, and I really wanted to play through games like Persona 4, but Sony had to mess it all up

Therefore: Since sony ****ed up, they get none of my money, kachow kapow!!!

its too bad that mine is backwards compatible .besides sony recently trademarked a title for ps2 emulation, which means it could eventually come, however im not sure if thats a rumor or what.

They did indeed patent a PS2 emulator a few months back, though I'm still not certain what for. I originally assumed that it was for the return of backwards compatibility as well, but if that were the case, I think we would have seen it by now. Coupling it with the new price point/slim model would have given them a chance to dominate the holiday season. Sony's stupid like that; who knows.

They're Japanese, they don't have to make sense.

maybe they are planning to realease classic ps2 games through the psn, like they did mith Marvel Vs Capcom 2

Not to undermind Sony's thinking, but I do think a major reason they released MvC2 in the first place was because it was also on the Xbox Live market for download as well. They probably did it to keep up with their competition. Plus, MvC2 was first developed for the MAME Arcade system, not for PS2. Even then it was released first on the Dreamcast.

mvc2 came out for psn at the same time as xbox arcade,there was no competition there, and yes im aware that it was an arcade game first, but its highest demand was in the ps2 market. i payed 80 dollars for a copy of in on ps2... used.

but now that i remeber it, they developed the new version on the dreamcast format, not ps2.

This is a possibility, but I still don't understand the reasoning. They have PS1 games on PSN already, yet ALL PS3s still have PS1 backwards compatibility. So I don't get why only PS2 games would have to be repurchased.

Sony wouldn't be making money if MvC2 wasn't released on the PSN, amirite? Copies for MvC2 are worth a lot of money, therefore are hard to get a hold of for the average consumer. If Capcom just released mvc2 on xbl, it could cause a demand for more people to buy xboxes so people could get a chance to play mvc2. If Capcom didn't release mvc2 on the psn then people would be more inclined to get a 360. You follow me?

And the highest demand for Marvel vs Capcom 2 was on the original xbox because there were fewest copies made for it. The reason there were few copies made was because the game was already out on the DC and the PS2 a significant time beforehand, and then once people started to realize how great a game it was, people bought it, there was a demand, and prices shot way up. You see, us Xbox owners make games popular
