New Sonic game announced by SEGA!

SEGA hosted a live steam twitch session earlier this evening for the primary reason of revealing their new sonic game which is to be released in 2017. The name of it is Sonic Mania and it harkens back to the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive era. No, you didn't walk into a time machine, no, you didn't end up in a parallel universe, and no this isn't a dream, this is the real deal!

Edit: It is coming out for Xbox One, PS4, and PC

I fell out of love with Sonic years ago, but this might just respark my love.

I mean, they're trying to find the formula for what made Sonic popular in the 90's... part of that formula was the 90's. A way-past-cool blue hedgehog with an attitude who likes chilly dogs... we don't do that anymore. We do autotune, Call of Duty, and cynicism. No time for bright colors. Sonic went the way of Pepsi.

Also, my favorite Sonic game was probably Sonic Rush, so... No Blaze, eh? Eh.

I'm intrigued. It won't be a day one purchase, but I'll read some reviews and probably wind up getting it. Of course, if it's total garbage I'll pass. I never liked how they tried to go 3D and incorporated all of those extra characters. I did however like some of the classic levels remade in Sonic Generations

And to be honest, it was all downhill once they changed Robotnik to eggman.

Well sonic mania is supposed to be true to it's roots since it plays exactly like the Genesis/Mega Drive sonics and the Sonic CD one as well and incorporating new elements into it. I have a feeling this will be a really good game.

There is another sonic game coming out that I wasn't aware of when I posted this, it's called project sonic so far as it doesn't have an official name but it has similar gameplay to generations with the classic and modern Sonics but it is going to be a new game and story so it isn't generations 2.

Either way, it's nice to see sega learning from their mistakes with the recent sonic boom games.

Who needs Sonic Mania when you have Sonic and Knuckles + Sonic 3 + Sonic 2 on Wii virtual console on wii u? I'm not getting a Switch just for a new old school Sonic game...
