New Ys Game Announced

Falcom used the Sony pre-TGS conference to announce a new original Ys game coming for the PS4 and Vita. Unlike recent years where they have been re-releasing or remaking their Ys series games, this will be a new game. The trailer showed a fully 3D world and what they are calling high speed combat. Not much more is known about the game yet.

It's about time Ys returned to consoles proper. Last console Ys was Ark of Naphistim which was ported to the PS2 by Konami, and I understand it is coming to the Vita as well. Now to find out if this is the full blown reimagining of Ys V, or a brand new entry (Ys VIII), or some other entry in Adol's adventure that takes place in between previous games. I like how the models are based off the ones from Memories of Celceta and improved upon. I hope the storyline will be enjoyable, the soundtrack to be engaging and awesome, and that the final boss in this one will be more challenging. The final boss in MoC was disappointingly easy on normal mode.

The way the articles I've read explained it, this is a brand Ys game and not a remake or port of an existing game. I couldn't find a name/title for this game. And the trailer/teaser is in Japanese, so there might be something lost. But this does seem like a brand new game something Ys fans have been waiting a while for probably.

So to narrow it down it could be either Ys 8 or, like I said, an in-between title that takes place after one existing title and before another existing title, a spin-off of the main series. I really think its the former though.

UPDATE: so I was wrong after all about it being 8 but I was right to consider the fact that it could possibly be an in-between which it is. According to this article, the story line for this new Ys takes place sometime before Ys seven the developers wanted to fill gap between Ys V and VI. Here is the link to the updated article.
