The only games I play more than once are games like tetris or mario or something. If it's been a long time since i last played a good game, i may replay it, but my brain seems to erase them from memory, so it's like they're new again.
Apparently, quite a few members here have beaten their favorite game/s dozen times at least, on few occasions I've seen that number go as far as 30 times or more. How's that even possible? I mean, how does it not get dull at one point?
No matter how great the game is, even if it has a huge replay value, quite some time needs to pass for me to give another go at it, thus my next playthrough is as fresh and nostalgic as possible. Unless I don't have a real choice I'll always go with new experience over old one. With that being said, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay is a game I've beaten most times so far, eight, if my memory serves me right. No even my all time favorite game comes close to that (Final Fantasy IX, only three times with several halfway walkthroughs). Got it along with my at that time new PC, needless to say I played it to death.
How often do you replay your favorite games? Which game have you beaten most times (choose another one next to Final Fantasy, if your first choice is Final Fantasy that is)?

Well probably my top 3 would be Final Fantasys haha. Outside of that, I think it's Mass Effect 2.
ME2 is easily my favourite game of the generation, and probably second favourite game of all time. I have finished ME2 9 times I believe. Truly amazing game.
Then probably the next 2 are Final Fantasy games haha.
The games i've beaten the most would be the following: Mega Man X (somewhere over 10 times), Tetris Attack (can't remember how many), and Super Mario World (Lost count here too).
EDIT: Here's an extra fact for you, I have sat down and beat Mega Man X twice in one sitting. Like I would beat it once, start all over, and beat it again.

I used to replay games all the time, mostly because there were only a handful that I had to play. Ah the days of my youth~ Back when I had no money and all the time in the world. Now I got money, but no time. I count myself lucky if I get around to finishing a game nowadays.
Probably my most played games (outside FF) would be Ocarina of Time and SMRPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars. I played OoT at Tele's house when I was there!

Ive played final fantasy games multiple times. Other than that, any RPG game with a great story/characters/gameplay I could easily play over and over again. I'm one of those people that buys movie's to rewatch them because even though I know whats going to happen, im still being entertained. The same applies heavily to games.
I find the time to replay my all-time favourite ones each year (going out with friends gets so mundane) which are (in order of most times replayed) Final FantasyVII, Devil May Cry3, Metal Gear Solid1&2, Legend Of Mana, Zelda; Ocarina of Time, Battletoads, Super Mario Bros3 and 64, Resident Evil2-(Signed the petition going around for THE remake!) as well as RE3, Halo1&2, GTA 3& Vice City, Bubsy, Soul Calibur, Super Metroid (SNES), Shadow Of the Colossus, Megaman X, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Zombies ate my Neighbours, Sonic the Hedgehog..there are others Ive replayed but I need to get ready now!
Do you play new games at all =P, that's a hell of a lot of games to replay each year, all great games mind you. I may actually replay Devil May Cry 3 one of these days, one of few games I played two-three times in a row (second time with Vergil of course).
Movies are different thing entirely, I feel, as they require less time and patience.

haha no not really!XD Of course I don't have the free time to replay every one those each year but I mean out of all those mentioned and a few more that are not coming to mind right now ooh wait Einhander and some others..they're always the fun ones I like to go back to n replay. If I can't play them I listen to their soundtracks >XD Thanks
I'm the kind of gamer who beats a game ONCE. After beating the final boss, I tend to play along for many, many hours and try to complete it (and I fail each time). But I rarely play a game twice.
I've tried to replay some games, but I've never replayed one until the very end. The only game I can remember that I've played twice is FFXII (for whatever reason - I don't remember why I broke my "rule").
And I've tried to replay Eternal Sonata to beat the pirates and get all those goodies... whatever you get in your second playthrough. But I've never gotten over two or three hours of playing...
My "rule", btw., is that I haven't got much time left since going to university, so I need all the time to play many games. Time spent on a second playthrough could better be spent on playing a completely new game.

Wow, now I feel weird about playing through ff7 over 20 times... Wait, no I don't. It's you all that are wierd. So you play a game for one thill then it's over? I guess I'm lucky that I'm able to enjoy titles many times over.
It's like a crazy one night stand thing..... Never as good as the second, third time etc..... I play a few games over and over!
Final fantasy 7
Final fantasy 9
Mario 64
Mario 3
Yoshis island
Zelda OOT
Zelda MM
Resi 2
Halo series
Broken sword 1&2
They are the ones of the top of my head not in any particular order
I'm currently playing crisis core as well and I think this will be added to the list I'm loving it so far!!!
I wouldn't call it lucky, but yes, it's fortunate to be able to play a game more than once. I wouldn't doubt that if you play a game for the second time after a long time, you'll experience it differently. (For example which characters you like, what you like best about the story, particular scenes, etc.)
Still, I like to remember the feeling of playing it for the first time. And sometimes a second playthrough can even ruin the charme of the first playthrough.
But looking at all I've written about that, it feels like I am the one who's weird.

I like watching good movies more than once, but when I have to go through the gameplay, I lose interest. I have trouble finishing games when the final dungeon is more or less a jarring stop after a constant stream of story and stuff, as soon as all the momentum dies, my interest does as well. Games are also a lot longer than movies, and I have plenty of games I have never played, so I don't see the need to replay them...except Pokemon, I play that shit at least once a year lol
I don't play new games myself, too expensive for something that wont even get that much use.

Borderlands 1 is at the top of my list for most beats. Have done 3 playthroughs as a Solider, 2 as a Siren, 2 as a Hunter, and then 2 as a Berserker. As you can tell by the extra playthrough the Solider was my favorite class, prolly why I immediately picked the Commando class in Borderlands 2.
The second most beats I have is on Final Fantasy Tactics. I think I have done like 7 play throughs on it. My first of second favorite final fantasy game ever.
Any games that have choices to make I'll replay at LEAST until I've made them all. So like the Fable games, I've played through each at least 10 times. Elder Scrolls games are another one I replay the shit out of. I have a dozen accounts on my Xbox just to keep my Oblivion and Skyrim characters separated. Then there are game I replay just because the story is awesome, the FFs and Zeldas fall in there. I'm actually in the middle of a Zelda marathon now, finished the original, Zelda 2, and link to the past over the past few days, working on Ocarina now. Then there are games i play through again to cheat on. I always enjoy going back through a game I've just beaten without cheats, and seeing just how badly I can break the game with a gameshark or action replay or whatever. There's just something fun about starting a new FFX with Caladbolg as a starting weapon. Or abusing the ability to make enchanting potions and alchemyy enchantments alternately to raise them infinitely, then making an obscenely overpowered blacksmithing potion and improving a weapon to do over a thousand damage. Or making enchantmnets permanent in Oblivion until I have like, 200+ speed, can jump into near earth orbit, and be completely immune to damage, or having a continuous 100% chameleon.

Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.
I feel like a crappy gamer because I cannot think of one single game that I played through in its entirety more than once. That being said I do start new saves on a lot of games but never commit to beating them....like to play a game through from beginning to end more than once seems very time consuming. Wait, wait, wait...Radiata Stories....nope just split the save before the choice and did both sides. Hmmm, well maybe I should consider picking up a game and trying this replaying thing.
EBG
Radiata's one I've played through numerous times. Splitting the save is fine, but you get some more interesting things for going the new game+ route.

Well thats the thing, I understand playing through RPG mutliple times, but I dont understand playing through games like borderlands and diablo multiple times. Once through with diablo was enough for me, but I just finished ff9 and I reckon in a few months I could play it again.
Didn't really play the first, but Borderlands 2 is a great game to replay, so many different talent specialization options, multiple classes, the xpacs coming (I always start a new game for an xpac, it feels weird to me to pick up a character after months of inactivity and resuming the adventure)

The final fantasy I've played the most is definitely FFIX. I've had to played that one like ten times at least. I played FFVIII quite a lot, but most times I would just replay the first three discs for the hey of it. However, the game I've had to played the most is got to be Civilization II. I probably put at least 50 games in to it maybe even more. I've played it off and on for like 15 years.
When I only owned a few games, I played them all a ton. Hence I why I played FFIX and FFVIII so many times. However, once I started buying more games, that started becoming more difficult. I ended up at the stage where I would play games twice. Once for the enjoyment and first time experience and a second time to 100% it. However, I own, needed to play and otherwise play to many games and have other things just plain to do, that I can't do even that anymore. So I will usually complete a game and if I can on that save, 100% it. If I can't, then it's not likely I'll replay it. The only game I've replayed more than twice this generation is Atelier Totori, which I did 3 times only because I wanted to see the True Ending and I screwed up my second play through for it.
Also, I ignore all my time testing video games, because I've played all of the Saints Row games more times than any human being should, completions included. And I challenge anyone to beat them faster than me.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.
