There's mention of the 3DS in some of the posts here at TFF, but I figured it would be alright to start a thread dedicated to it.
It's been announced that the 3DS is set to be launched before March 31, 2011 (source), but there's no mention of price yet (not even an estimation).

There's also a hand's on look at it if you wish to read an editor's opinion about their experience with the 3DS. And just for good measure, here's IGN's Hand's On video demo that was done at E3.
So there's plenty of info if you're curious!
Is anyone excited for this new handheld? Or maybe you have some questions or concerns in regards to it? Whatever the case may be, feel free to post any and all things related to the 3DS!
Also, I thought it would be neat to see what everyone thinks the new handheld will end up costing, and when the price is finally announced, see if at least one of us got it right.So, how much do you think the 3DS is going to cost?
If I'm being honest, I wasn't all that enthusiastic about hearing Nintendo is going to release another handheld... I mean, how long ago was the DSi? It doesn't seem that old to me. So I initially pegged it as just being some gimmicky Nintendo product that was created to cash in on their superiority in the handheld gaming market. However, as I learned new things about it, the more excited I've become, and now, I'm really wanting to get one when it's finally released!
Not only am I curious about the 3D aspect of it (and I hear it is rather good), but there are plenty of titles that make me feel this is definitely worth a buy. Zelda: OoT, Animal Crossing, a Kingdom Hearts game, and Paper Mario are just the few I'll mention that really caught my eye.It can also play movies in 3D, though I don't know if I'll be using that feature too much. I suppose I'll wait and see once I get my hands on it.

I am estatic for the 3DS! The new one looks pretty cool and I'm impressed with how it works and how the games look. Kid Icarus is my number 1 focus for that system. I'm also looking at metal gear solid 3DS and I might get Ocarina of Time who knows. In case you didn't know there is also going to be a Star Fox 64 3D title as well.

It's kinda cool they making it in 3D, that would be interesting to see. I haven't played on a handheld since the first DS 1st came out and I would expect it too cost a fair bit.

A lot of tech junkies have analyzed the so-called "chip specs" that have been released, and figure it should be about as powerful as Gamecube and should be relatively cheap (around the $200 mark)
But yeah I'm thrilled with it. Hearing all the positive hype from people who tried it out at E3, especially Warren Spector
The game lineup is looking most promising as well. I mean OoT REMAKE. HELL YEAH!
I heard an Okami fan say that Capcom should just delay Okamiden so they can upscale it to the 3DS so it can be closer to its console predacessor. Which is a GREAT idea I think, but looking unlikely. Oh well.
Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64. Nice. Two of my absolute favorite games from the N64 era.
I still use one of the old DS Lites, the one that can still play GBA games. I'll still keep it (for Pokemon, cause I'm a nerd) but the 3DS is looking really good right now. I don't know if I'll buy it, though. Unless they announce 3D Pokemon, then they just made a launch day sale. >_>

I'm not getting one. I can't watch 3D anything because it makes me feel a bit sick, so I'll give it a miss. Kind of cool that they are doing one though. It's a very interesting idea.
Will the 3D games only be supported by the 3DS, or can you play them on a regular DS, because I really want Ocarina of Time.

Pretty sure that you can only play 3DS games with a 3DS... You can also play DS and DSi games with one, but I don't think that the 3DS games are going to be backwards compatible.

There's a slider, using which you can turn up or turn down (or completely turn off) the 3D effects.
The 3DS seems cool and all, but I have to wonder how much of a game changer the 3D effects actually will be. If they can be turned off, how can they be? If the games are still fully playable in 2D, then how can the 3D effects be anything other than aesthetic? I'll have to see one for myself before I make a decision obviously, but I've never been big on handhelds to begin with, so it will take a bit of convincing for me.

A Star Fox 64 remake? That has my ears opened. I was hoping for an SFX game for the Wii, but maybe if this does well, they'll think about it. Wonder how it will look with updated graphics and such.
We'll see if I'm willing to shell out the $200 when the time comes. Or if I'll even have it to shell out. (I think I might have a new system-be it handheld or console-for each of the last like five or so years, haha.) Anyhoo...

I'm really curious to see the pricing on it. I've heard conflicting opinions by analysts on what the price will end up being. Amusingly enough, Michael Pachter has a bet going with Garnet Lee (not that Garnet is an analyst) that the 3DS will be closer to the PSP Go price ($250), though Pachter firmly believes that people will buy it anyways.

Ok, another game that I think needs a remake is Bomberman 64. Just played through that game again and loved the gameplay. It could have online battles, more customization parts, and hopefully even more levels.

Looks like some more info has popped up about the 3DS after Nintendo's press conference. Kotaku had this to say:

(I'll probably keep it anyway...After months of speculation, Nintendo has today revealed the launch date for the new 3DS handheld at a press conference in Tokyo.
And that date, at least for the Japanese market, is February 26, 2011. The 3DS will retail there for ¥25,000 (USD$300). Two colours will be available at launch: "Aqua Blue" and "Cosmos Black"
Release dates for the European and North American markets were not quite as specific, Nintendo saying that the handheld would be out in the West in March 2011. No pricing details for these regions were ... disclosed.)

I was already interested in the 3DS as I just find the idea fascinating. The graphics and overall power look promising, and it's coming in blue right off the bat.
When I was keeping track of the conference last night. I'm nodding in approval at things like the Virtual Console and miscellaneous features. But one announcement sent me into a tizzy.
MEGA MAN LEGENDS 3. Capcom's long awaited, much demanded sequel is finally being made. Like the Okami of the PS1 era, it was such a charming series that ended on a cliffhanger. Not to mention there was definitely room for improvement with the controls. At first I thought a sequel would be better on a console, but 3D effects with the possibility of cel-shaded graphics at LEAST on par with the Wii, I'm good. Besides, stylus control, might be the improvement the gameplay needs.
SO HYPED!
About time MML3 gets in the works. Looks like I logged in at a good time to hear the following news.

Another one?! They seem to release one every year lately. I have a DS Lite and a DSi, I'm definitely not buying the DSi XL if they are releasing this. I'm not too fond of 3D stuff but it sounds ok I guess. The game titles sound super cool so we'll see.
