There's a slider, using which you can turn up or turn down (or completely turn off) the 3D effects.
The 3DS seems cool and all, but I have to wonder how much of a game changer the 3D effects actually will be. If they can be turned off, how can they be? If the games are still fully playable in 2D, then how can the 3D effects be anything other than aesthetic? I'll have to see one for myself before I make a decision obviously, but I've never been big on handhelds to begin with, so it will take a bit of convincing for me.
