Who likes Golden Sun i liked the first one i thought it was great
Golden Sun is a really fun game for me. I've played the first one and the second one. Isn't another coming out for the DS? Or has it been released already? I remember Azuteor making a thread about it some time ago. Let's see if I can still remember the names. xD
I really liked the four elements aspect of the game. I thought it made sense and was pretty fun in battle, exploring weaknesses and lots of Psynergy. The thing I didn't like so much was how long it took to level up, though. Really, I think that at level 25, I could beat the final boss of the first game, and then the bonus boss at 30. I remember a cave in The Lost Age with a lot of those phoenixes that give a ton of experience, but it still took a long time to just get to about level 50. And I think a lot of powerful skills are learned at late levels, right?
Oh, and I was disappointed Saturos and Menardi weren't in the second game. I liked them better than the two in The Lost Age. Karst was okay, but I didn't like Agatio. Also, I just hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE Alex from both games, especially the second. >=0

Golden Sun is on my top ten list of favorite RPG's. I enjoy getting Djinni and using them in battle. Each was unique and had f*cking sweet powers. The story was pretty good in the first golden sun, and lost age. I need to look for my copies of these games and play em. I have been meaning to start a new file and play through...

Ooh, yeah, I forgot about the Djinnis. Those things were so much fun to collect, and I really enjoyed setting different ones to different characters to get new classes and abilities. Using them and then unleashing summons was always fun as well, but the last one was a bit too powerful, don't you think? ^ ^;

I think it was...Iris? The one that you get for beating the one super-powerful bonus boss with Formida Sage and could use Charon as Psynergy, practically. He was purple, I think. =3 But Iris, I believe, was the one that cost a ton of Mars Djinnis and healed the party, revived all dead members--inactive or not--and damaged the enemy. I never managed to use her a lot, though.

You probably mean Dullahan. Fought in normal cases, Dullahan is a pain to defeat (nukes your set Djinni and forces standby, can summon Charon at will and IIRC if it does it with Djinni set, it forced them into standby as well), plus more than three attacks. However, supposedly there's a way to beat the boss with minimal effort (it requires a heckuva lot of speed and the Lull Jupiter Djinni, which made him lose a turn, then go straight to two-turn summon-spamming, with Daedalus around the middle (for its massive missile damage).
Iris is more a bragging-rights summon than anything else. By the time you get her, you have already beaten the hardest boss in the game, and the last boss isn't that hard if you know the right tactics (Granite, Ember and the Mercury barrier Djinni; cycle them all and your damage is reduced bit by bit). If you have Iris, it's just to prove you defeated Dullahan (and if not, that you cheated). It's also, as mentioned, a very expensive summon (9 Mars Djinni and 4 Mercury IIRC).
I'm still awaiting news of the newcoming DS version, if it's still on the works (and hopefully they do; it's a long-delayed game actually).

Nomu-baka, this is FAR from over...:
I haven't played a portable RPG in a while, but Golden Sun has been my favorite since I started playing the first one. I really liked the system of changing classes based on which djinn you gave to a character. It made things pretty interesting, and you could change the class of your characters pretty easily. The story also was interesting. I remember not expecting too much when I initially bought it, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I also remember playing two player with one of my friends back like seven years. I would always win because my Ivan was faster. That was pretty fun. I admit that the battle system was flawed because you could win in one turn playing against other people, but it was still fun.
Golden Sun DS is going to be released sometime this year in Japan, but who knows when it'll come to the US, or Europe for that matter. I can't wait until it comes out if it lives up to the previous two games.
EDIT: You're right that the game was pretty easy, especially towards the end, but that didn't really take the enjoyment out of it for me. I remember in the second game, after you got all eight characters, the game became really easy, but it wasn't that big of a deal because it was still fun to battle and continue the story.

I LOVED IT!!! AND I STILL LOVE IT AS I STILL PLAY IT...XD This Game Is The Shit, Although Some Of The Graphics Are Crap, It Is Still An Awesome Game. You Don't Have To Agree With Me, I'm Just Saying![]()
my best character was felix in gs2 i loved using grand gaia *obtained at lvl54* it would wipe out all enemies in its wake![]()
I didn't think the graphics were that bad. It was made almost ten years ago for the GBA, so it couldn't have had great graphics. It was better than a lot of the other GBA games I played at the time.
One thing that I would have to say was a disappointment were the characters in the second game. Felix wasn't too bad, but I really didn't like the other characters. The characters were great in the first game, so it was a little of a let down when I started playing the second game.
I'm hoping that the new Golden Sun game is more difficult. The first two really weren't hard at all, and it would be nice for an increase in difficulty. I'm looking forward to the new game more and more each time I see this thread.![]()

Actually, I forgot about Jenna since I haven't played in so long. I liked her better too.
I'm starting to forget a lot of stuff in these games, so I should probably replay them before the new one comes out, but the new one probably won't be out until next year.
EDIT: I think it would have been nice to get the characters earlier in the game. I really wanted to replace the characters that I didn't like. I liked using all of the characters from the first game except for Jenna instead of Garet.

When I owned the Golden Sun games I thought they were awesome. I really liked the storyline for the 1st one with the flood and all. For a game boy game the graphics were surprisingly good. I was impressed. I refuse to play a game if the graphics are terrible. Since it has been at least 3 years since i last played the Golden Sun games, I don't remember many details. I just remember that they rocked.
did everyone get the summon at the lemurian fountain? it summons eclipse i thought that was a good one as well besides the one dullahan give you Iris and Charon
The Golden Sun series is amazing!! I can't wait for the new one!![]()
xTidus: "What are you doing?"
ViviMasterMage: "I'm eating your hair... Why?"

I've tried Golden Sun on the GBA and got stuck in the beginning, is that the first game?
What other games are there and are they connected storyline-wise?
golden sun is such a good game and i played .
Golden Sun is epic. I have both games, but I never managed to finish the first one. I think I got stuck right before you go on the boat thing to get to the other side of the continent. I don't know what happened, but all I could do was check out some bandit's hide-out and that was it. I had no idea what to do next. =/
Second game is really fun. I actually got hold of the sequel before getting the original, and finished it easily enough.
Anyway, both games are amazingly fun. I remember all the puzzles and the crazy dungeons that there are. Those two games together had some seriously tedious puzzles and stuff that drove me insane, but that was part of the fun. I feel like the newer games now are lacking in the whole maze/puzzle factor that should be a big part of all RPGs.
Battle system was like FFX for me, so it wasn't hard. I loved the leveling and Djinn system though. Moving djinn's around to get certain psyenergies for certain obstacles took forever, but that was just more of the game's goodness.Figuring out which djinns would be best for which character, and when to use them in battle was good stuff too.
And what's this? There's going to be a new one? I WILL GET IT. Even though I have no time to waste playing games, I WILL DO IT.God...I miss that game.
Golden Sun was and still is one of the most finely crafted RPGs of all time. The Lost Age improved on nearly everything. Way to go Nintendo!
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes...or should I?
Loved both Golden Sun games! Looking forward to the 3rd one! Whenever it comes out.
