    The game that got away.

Have you ever tried a game, enjoyed it but because you didn't own it you never got to play it as much as you would of liked? I know with emulators getting almost any game is possible if you try for it but I'm talking hard copies.
Mine is a fairly common one I think:

    Earthbound.

There was a game store that rented it out around the time N64/Playstation was at its prime. I rented it enough to what I think was about halfway through the game when the store up and went out of business overnight with a dropbox for games still due. If my conscience and my mom wasn't nagging my ear off I would of just kept/stole the game but morality won out thinking I could find it again. Sadly to this day I haven't played the game again and Nintendo refuses for some retarded reason to release a Wii downloadable version. Kirby SuperStar used to be in the same boat but now Wii has that and apparently gameboy also has a remake.

Two triumph stories of more recent games are Dead Rising and Castle Crashers. I refuse the buy Xbox because it is statistically inferior and personal grudges so I couldn't play those games to my hearts content. Now an upgraded Castle Crashers and a good Dead Rising sequel for PS3 have put those longings to rest.

So what games have gotten away from you that you wish you could own?

Gears Of War springs to mind straight away here. I own a PS3 now, and when it came out I had a PS2, so I couldn't buy it without having to buy an Xbox.

I remember when I was in sixth form at school, and me and my mate would go to his house to play some GOW during free lessons. We always did Co-op campaign, which was awesome. Those were the only times I got to play it, and almost considered getting an Xbox solely for it. I really wish it wasn't an Xbox exclusive

Re: The game that got away.

I have something...but it's more like the console that got away:

I had a choice of either getting a Wii or a PS3 for Christmas back when they were first released, which meant that the PS3s were built with backwards compatibility. However, I fell into the Wii hype, and Twilight Princess looked like it was going to be amazing, so that's what I said I would like. Now? My Wii sits on my shelf collecting dust, and once I finally was able to get a PS3 for myself, it doesn't have the oh-so-coveted backwards compatibility. :/ Ah well. My PS2 still works like a dream

As far as games go, I only really have two that come to mind: Psychonauts and FF VI (PSone). I used to own Psychonauts, but it's missing somewhere....most likely for good too. :/ As for FF VI, I had a friend who was going to give me a copy, but I turned it down for whatever reason. I have heard that the loading times in that particular port were pretty bad...so my GBA version of the game is fine with me.

Re: The game that got away.

It happened with three games, but I'm now the proud owners of them. It happened with Dark Cloud, Headhunter and Fur Fighters.

Me and my brother rented Dark Cloud from the rental loads of times. We could have probably bought the game three times over with the amount we spent just renting it. One day, we went to rent it again, and someone else had borrowed it and never brought it back. We were actually devastated. A year or so later, Christmas was around the corner, and my aunt found us a copy. We'd tried looking for it, but had been unlucky, so that was an awesome present. ^^

    We rented Headhunter once or twice before it went missing. I finally got around to buying it a few months ago. >>;

And Fur Fighters! My 'sister'* owned the game, and I used to play it when I was over her house. But then she moved away, my mum and her had an argument, and I never spoke to her again. Mum got it for me as a gift a few years ago, I think for Christmas.

*We weren't related, just really, really close. She was ten years older than me, and I looked up to her I suppose. So Fur Fighters does hold a lot of sentimental value.

They don't make games like that anymore.

    These games are weird but...
    Metropolismania.
    Mr. Mosquito
    And Flower... >.>

Metropolis mania, you build houses and make cities and listen to peoples requests... I love it... I miss it...

And Mr. Mosquito, I played the demo and loved it. Malaria for the win!

Flower... I played the demo and it calmed me down toooooo much. Almost in a zen state seriously. My friend said something, but I didn't respond until heslightly poured water on my pants... >.>

Your pathetic existence will shut down. I will make your lives end in ruin. Fear me, as you fear death. Not a threat, not a promise, but what must be finished. 7 final arcs...

****ing Valkyrie Profile. Borrowed that from a friend years ago. He offered to sell it to me when I gave it back, for like 30$, but I was stupid and didn't buy it because I'd already beaten it.
For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting. Blessed are the Madmen, for they hold the keys to secret knowledge. Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.
