I didn't find the last part of the game that short tbh. I figured out that the days leading up to the attack didn't drop if you don't complete the last "task" of the day. So I mucked around with other quests that I hadn't finished in order to get the required money to fund the Crawler's attack.
I liked the Desert Star quest, in fact I love wandering around Aurora. The level design in that is awesome! The Veiled Path drove me nuts though. Every two seconds my damn dog was barking at either flowers or dig spots, there was a gnome or enemies coming at me.
The final boss (Possessed Walter) was kind of a let down, and way too easy. Because I didn't advance as quick as some other people, I was able to amass the money to protect my kingdom. So I suffered zero civilian casualties, the people love me and I can't walk through any town now without nearly every single citizen gifting me something or other.
It annoyed me in this one (as in the same as Fable 2) that the designers really seem to favour you playing as an "evil" character. I always play through twice. First playthrough I am a "good" girl character, then the next I am an "evil" boy character so I can see the differences.
The difference in the Hero Weapons is cool. Mine has an "ethereal" aura because I adopted a child. My guy's drips blood because of the amount of Balverines he's killed.
All in all I did enjoy it, but I don't think it lived up to the hype.
