    Easter Eggs!

Easter eggs in video games, ever found one? It doesn't necessarily have to be an Easter egg, a bug will do, though not the kind you see in games such as Duke Nukem Forever, rather something unusual, something game changing.

Speaking of Duke Nukem Forever, this game has huge list of references, though I'm not sure if they're worth mentioning as they're quite easy to find.

I remember finding PDA in Doom 3 with all the names of developers and some of their comments. It was cleverly hidden near the end of the game, you had to press a small button with id's logo on it, a completely new room would open with formentioned PDA in it.

There was also that hidden level in Warcraft III, you had to click on sheep's I think, but in certain order to unlock it.

Not sure in which version of Final Fantasy IV, GBA I think, there's a pub with all the developers in it, well, almost all.

As for bugs, while going through Final Fantasy III, full translated rom for NES, my Knight suddenly gained a level after every battle. In other words, I had maxed Knight rather early in the game.

I wish I had that bug from FFIII. Would have made my job easier by a load.

Grand Theft Auto is known for its fair share of Easter eggs. This is the major one from GTAIV:

The (literally) beating heart of Liberty City, inside the Statue of Happiness. You have to walk through a door with a sign that reads 'NO SECRET CONTENT THIS WAY' in order to get to it.

    Re: Easter Eggs!

I've found loads in Fallout 3. My favourite, which I don't think has been found yet, is a cinema in the DC ruins which makes a play on movies released before the game came out. Like PS I Hate You (PS I Love You). I can't remember the others, but I thought it was funny. Will have to try and find it again one day and take pictures.

GTA is another good example. Had loads of good ones in Vice City and San Andreas. There's one in San Andreas which is a sign near the big red bridge which tells you how much memory the bridge takes up in the memory. There's also a sign at the top of the bridge which says "No Easter Eggs up here."

Metal Gear Solid has a few too. Mostly naughty, but pretty good references if you know what they are. Favourite one involves manipulating the clock on the PS2 in Snake Eater during the fight with The End.

    Re: Easter Eggs!

Silent Hill has tons of secret hidden references to Jacobs Ladder. Way to many to list but the first one that comes to mind is the childs bike in the hospital.

Heavenly sword had a god of war reference.

Who could forget the comical ending to Crono Trigger that makes me chuckle ever time.

The voice actors out takes on Lunar Silver Star Story complete. Halarious.

InFamous makes a refernce to another game hidden on te main characters back pack.

FFVII had a Xenogears reference said byone of the numbered goons.

I love all of those weird little snippets. Odd as they might seem. Always good for a sweet moment.

I've hunted all the Easter Eggs in Banjo Kazooie, and the Ice Key. Only to be slapped in the face at them being useless items.

    Re: Easter Eggs!

I remember when playing Ocarina of Time many years ago, and when I got to the Castle Courtyard, if you look through one of the windows going into the castle, you can see portraits of Mario, Yoshi, and Bowser. Also, if you hit the window with your slingshot, a guard will appear in the window and throw a bomb at you.

In Bioshock, you can see a Pacman reference: A wheel of cheese has a wedge cut out of it (for the "mouth"), and there are a line of bullet holes beside it that are supposed to represent the pellets.

In FF VII, you can see Cait Sith in the Honey Bee Inn. If you look around through the keyhole to the Lover's Room you'll see Cait Sith hopping up and down.

    Re: Easter Eggs!

Is the "Ocarina of Time" one just in the N64 version? I have it on GameCube with "The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition" and I was wondering. I don't really go searching for all that stuff, but I think I may start.

Do all of those pictures of the Japanese girls in the Metal Gear Solid series count? I find them in the lockers in MGS2, and some of the weirdest places in MGS3.

Well, I've never played the GameCube version, but I'm sure at least something Mario-related will be in the windows, though I'm not sure if it's totally the same. Apparently, the 3DS version has elements of a Mario Stage in the castle now, instead of just the pictures.
