I don't think it matters if they were sold. I've read this question many times on other forums, and apparently as long as you've once had them in your inventory, you can still get the trophy.

In other words, you don't need a full set in your inventory at any one time to get it.

EDIT: Unless you need to upgrade... oh... =S
