What's the one feature you'd like to see for FFXV's battle system?
Let the speculation begin. Since Square-Enix has not yet officially announced FFXV (we're hoping this is what they teased at Sony's press event last month), we have plenty of time to discuss on our own. Let's assume the E3 announcement will be FFXV for the PlayStation 4 and potentially cross-platform as well.
What do you want to see out of the battle system?
Check the poll above, and then discuss your choices below.
I opted for the classic ATB. Give me fresh overworld gameplay and some neat new ways to interact with things outside of combat, and then pay homage to the classics by giving us a combat system we haven't seen since FFIX released in 2000. (Mobile games notwithstanding.) I loved it, particularly the pacing in the SNES era.

The joke is going to be that Versus XIII is being renamed into FFXV with completely new lore unrelated to FFXIII's universe.
But I just want a fantasy setting. FFXIV is one, but it's an MMO. I want a single player fantasy game like FFIX. I don't really care much if it is true ATB or just the modified ATB we have now with FFXIII. Dress it as much as you FFXIII is still ATB, just a modified one. It just doesn't need to be an action RPG, keep it turn based. Full party would be the best as well.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

I actually really enjoyed XIII's battle system. You can actually slow it down for individual command entry too, so that was nice. You're right about it still being ATB, but by that logic we should argue that FFXI is an ATB system as well. Still true, though the gauge itself is hidden, and there's a fancy auto-attack option for when you aren't staring down your menus (or in this case, macros).
I know I voted classic ATB, but I wouldn't mind at all seeing something like Lost Odyssey or Xenoblade Chronicles. The touch of interactivity to keep you honest is always nice.
And I really really really hope that's not the joke. But Versus always did look so terribly different from the rest of the FNC entries.

As long as Versus comes out under some name I'll be happy. I'm not going to complain if it is FFXV or FFvXIII. FFXI was largely a ATB, everything was a timer. It was just that rather than one timer governing all. It was split up. A real time system is only real time when there are no timers involved. Real time systems are generally governed by the consumption of MP or some pool of something.
But yeah, I enjoyed FFXIII combat system quite a lot. I like the strategy to it. It was very different from the other games.

I love classic ATB, granted there's more to it like junction system for instance. XII's ADB was also nice, battles felt fast and dynamic and you yourself would chose how much control you'd have over your characters. I'm perfectly fine with pretty much anything as long as it's not hack & slash which sadly Versus XIII seems to be.
