Fan of a dying series?

So while on YouTube this "brony" started bashing on me (and yes it was a brony his page was filled with pony stuff) for liking Final Fantasy stating that "I am a fan of a dying series" which I get that a lot the few times I tell people I like Final Fantasy, and honestly I say I understand why he said that I am a open minded person. But he later went on saying that (mind you I told him my favorite one is vi and ix) "you shouldn't even like those because they are named after a now shit series" now I post this because I need some feedback from those statement and also to give you a insight of nonsense people tell me.

This brony, saying that to you, is the same thing as you bashing on ppl who are bronies. Like what you like. It doesn't matter if someone else, doesn't agree with you. You could've asked this question, without bringing up bronies, try not to be a hater man.

Anyway, this guy is wrong, for hating on you for liking final fantasy. Is it a dying series, I don't think so. It has just gone in a different direction. It doesn't appeal to everyone. Especially a lot of fans of the previous, more popular games. Each final fantasy, is it's own game. They really shouldn't be compared. But they are of course. I'm not a die hard fan. But I like it. It's ok to like different things in this life and not hate or bash someone because of it.

Firstly, you got into an argument with someone on YouTube. You may as well have dressed up as a knight and marched into 4chan, and demanded they end their wicked ways. Someone is going to get butthurt. Trolls of ultimate, that is internet.

And Final Fantasy isn't a dying series at all. He was wrong on that completely. The last game wasn't what most people expected and they didn't really like it, sure. Some people may or may not drift away from liking the series, but the series will always find new fans. Who the old school fans will dislike because they won't shut up about how hawt Tidus is, and how they want to cosplay as Lightening and Serah but can't because they're too fat. But they do it anyway and look ridiculous.

But yeah. Final Fantasy is not dead. You don't need to waste time on YouTube arguing about that.

I'm currently neutral on the matter as i've yet to touch the XIII series.

Personally I enjoy the older installments but I am excited about the direction that FF is taking in terms of graphics, storylines, characters, music and the new format of battles is awesome. Each to their own hey?

Well, having the first game of the series cannot define by any means that a series is dead. At most, it defines the parent company is completely and utterly out of ideas, and is looking for more money to produce, but since they're looking for more money, that means they're at least kicking.

Basically, the OP responded to a D0O0O0O0O0O0O0O0MM!!!sayer, who probably doesn't understand what's happening with the series. Compare to, say, Breath of Fire, which is for all purposes dead (the closest thing to a lifeline was having one of the devs in MvC3 insisting that Fou-Lu would have been a cool appearance AND eventually the card things), and you can figure that Final Fantasy is far from dead. Given how they're rebooting FFXIV...
