So FFV doesn't make the cut, even to this day FFVII is still the benchmark for the series' popularity, FFX is extremely well liked, more people played FFX-2 than FFIV in here, and FFI II and III are the least talked about of all the numbered games. this poll is far more in-depth, spread over time, and has more options than any thread poll could be. and you can continue to watch it changer over the course of years! sorry, i'm a little stat crazy - and while this may not directly correspond with what's the 'best' FF game, post counts really are the teller of people's level of interest.

That means that people post more in the FFVII forum than in any other section, and not much else. There's definitely more spam in the FFVII forum than elsewhere, and I don't know about the others, as I don't think I've ever gone into the FFVIII and FFX-2 fora. While your point is still valid, that FFVII is one of the most popular games, it's not reflected so much by these numbers -- and even so, that makes it easier and easier to say it's overrated.

I got VI a while ago and it's quite neat, but still a fan of VII. However... FF XI is also a very great one indeed... seeming how you can kaap on playing and exploring it which makes it perfect for me.

my fave is FF VII cus of the charecter and the story line and all of it!!! ( exept for the graphics theyr bad but the game is old... i havent ever played it but ive seen many clips of it and i loved the movie but it was in japanese...)

My favourite Final Fantasy game is VIII. It was the first FF game I ever played and I found it very addictive. The storyline is entertaining and doesn't get boring. The characters were all cool and they had awesome weapons, especially Squall. Some of the enemies were a bit of a challenge at times. I also like X but VIII is my definite favourite.

I would have to say FF3 becuz... i reallie liked how the battle and the story is... when ur fightin.. if its block they have a shield... n some other stuff goin on... and the esper.. to learn magic.. pretty good too... plus the music through out the game is a master piece....

i'd go with FFVII because it had a good storyline(the other FF had one of course) but i prefered this one.The side quests were also cool(weapons,KOTR,materia's) which made it quite a long game after a while.

I would have to go with VII cuz i started with the original on the nes and played each one. but when VII came out i sat up for about 65 hours with no sleep and hardly any food cuz it had me in a trance.

FF VII is the best story line but the graphics are (ok for there time) not that good

As for me, my favorite is six. Sure, I think seven is overrated, but I'll admit that six is a bit overrated as well. So is ten. That's the mark of good games. Each of those titles have their flaws, sure. In my eyes, six had the fewest.

I've cleared FFVI 34 times, for the curious.

I've also cleared every other Final Fantasy ever produced (multiple times, at that) with the exceptions of FFVIII (it's the only one I don't own) and MQ. Therefore, my opinions aren't really biased toward one game or another.

FFX as the first FF I ever completed. I loved every minute of it, despite harbouring harmful thoughts towards many of the characters; the story, and the fighting, everything. It captured me. So, there you go, gay ol' Tidua actually gets my vote.
