    Who is more evil?

This is a sanctuary where we claim to be evil discuss any and all evil things, right?

    (*crickets*)
    Right.

So I've been thinking about some things lately. Namely my childhood---all the good times and the bad times. The times where I look back and say, "What the hell was I thinking?! Buying E.T. for the Atari 2600 with my hard-earned allowance money has to be the biggest mistake of my life thus far! What the ****? KOOL-AID MAN HAD AN ATARI GAME?! When did I buy THIS shit?"

    (True story.)

    Then I realized something.

I was annoyed in my childhood. Not just I-slipped-on-banana annoyed, but bloody annoyed by two different animated characters across two different forms of entertainment. Two unstoppable, unkillable forces from their respective genres; two villains whose annoyance perhaps knows no equal.

In a world where you could punch cartoony canines...

One says nothing. One doesn't shut up.
One flaunts your failures. One fixes failures.
One hides in chest-high grass. One hides in hilariously-to-scale pottery.
It all leads to this one simple question:

Which canine caricature is the most contemptible?

    Duck Hunt Dog

    Scrappy Doo

Tough choice, but I would go with Scrappy.

The Duck Hunt Dog is more of a Chaotic Neutral with slight evil inclinations. He is just as quick to praise you as he is to taunt. Like an old friend.

Scrappy on the other hand actively brings about ruin. He will challenge and break the status quo. There is no escape.

    Re: Who is more evil?

I left this thread earlier because I thought I'd think on it for a bit. Then I played ME3 and didn't think about it at all

My perspective weighs heavily on the fact that Scrappy was the villain in the live action Scooby Doo movie (that I never saw) and they even made him this huge monster dog thing, iirc. Dunno if we're counting the movie in this, but given that it was based on fan hatred for Scrappy (right?) I think it holds water. I mean, him and that dumb-ass cousin character pushed Daphne, Fred, and Velma out of the show. That's pretty fucked.

On the other hand, that Duck Hunt dog is a doucher. But still. I think Scrappy is the logical choice here. Anyhoo...

    Re: Who is more evil?

Gonna go against the grain and say that the Duckhunt Dog is more evil. Scrappy was pretty popular in his day, and when he was introduced, he managed to attract enough new viewers to save the show from falling ratings. So... He has had some good stem from his creation... As for the character himself, he's just young. He should have some leeway for that, right?

At any rate, Duckhunt Dog made me rage far more than Scrappy ever did. It's that taunting laugh... Rubbing your failures in your face. You can't even retaliate!

    Re: Who is more evil?

I really gave this a lot of thought. Probably more thought than I should have, but I digress.

My initial gut reaction is Duck Hunt Dog. All the way. Can't shoot him, can't remove him from the game; one simply has to tolerate him and his laughing at your misfortunes. Evil, right? I get that he's just a dog with very few animations overall. What is there---walking & sniffing, jumping, laughing, holding 1 -OR- 2 ducks? Maybe one more. My point is this: for a bit character in a throwaway game included with Nintendo Entertainment System purchases (let's be honest: Super Mario Bros. was the bread-and-butter), this two-dimensional dog--both literally and figuratively-- incites a LOT of rage. If you consider the rage-to-portfolio ratio, you wouldn't be wrong to pick Duck Hunt Dog as the most evil. He does so little but infuriates SO MUCH!

    Scrappy Doo, however, is sinister.

Telegraph brings up a point that I don't think anyone clear in his or her cognitive faculties could admit---he's the villain in the movie. More to the point: no one could admit this because that would mean someone out there actually watched the live-action Scooby Doo movie.

He says he was the primary villain, which I say is just par for the course! Scrappy always wanted the limelight! Just think of it! The little dog has a big ego. I honestly think his intentions were subverted in the cartoons. He might have, on occasion, unintentionally pushed Scooby Doo out of cowardice to save the day. But to the kids, Scrappy was the real hero. He saved the cartoon from failing ratings and supplanted any number of cartoon characters as the most annoying of all time. Why did he save the show? So he could make children suffer!

He never shut up. Ever! Even when he had something comically wrapped around his mouth to prevent him from talking, he kept trying to talk anyway. Truly a mark of the insane. I'll bet he was simply waiting for the right opportunity to turn evil.

These are all wild assumptions. To truly gather evidence means I'd have to suffer through the live-action movie, which I'll never do. And this isn't a court room! I don't need evidence---just my GUT, man! And my gut tells me Scrappy Doo is more evil than anyone.

    Ever.

    In the history of everything.

This astounds me. I honestly didn't think it was possible to make Scrappy less likable. They succeeded! At least the YouTube clip gave me 46 seconds to recall the reasons I didn't care to watch the entire movie. That 46 seconds was time well spent, I'd say.

    Re: Who is more evil?

So Scrappy Doo is evil, but I think on an even evil genius level. I mean not only was he annoying he purposely tried to halt the evil schemes of countless of evil schemers. That is pretty evil, on a whole new level evil.

At least the Duck Hunt Dog was just an errand runner for people killing birds. Sure he mocked your poor aim but at least he didn't screw up your plans.

So yeah, Scrappy is the worse...
