Has anyone else noticed rock music getting a little more smuttier? I mean I can name a lot of songs that were produced in the past three years that have nothing but talk of strippers and what not. IDk; rock used to be a bit more classy than that. All about the party life.....not to STD life.

Modern Rock isn't the real rock as we might know it.

I wouldn't consider that "Crazy Bitch" song a Rock song. It's more of an alternative song, or something. I don't know labels.

Our friend picked us up from the bar the other night and was listening to some screamo stuff, and my gf's roomate says "Oh, sweet, metal!" I I just lowered my head in shame. Nobody knows what metal is anymore.

Which brings me to my point. The genres have shifted, will continue to shift forever, and there's nothing we can do about it. We are all destined to one day be that grumpy old man saying "damn kids with your rap music and rock and roll".

I dunno. I think its just how music goes. If you look back a couple of decades the music that was "racy" or "rude" was pretty tame by today's standards. I bet in the next couple of decades people will look back at songs today and think "Meh... I don't get what the big deal was anyways...".

I agree though all this modern so called rock just isn't rock as it used to be when it was first created well I suppose they do call it modern rock and old rock they do have separated groups now so I guess it is signified.

I dunno. It's not all horrible. Back when I used to listen to the radio last year, there were only a couple songs that my alternative rock station of choice would play that caused me to change the channel in disgust (although I wasn't listening to it for the music; I was listening for an afternoon talk show, which I don't listen to anymore.) Then again, that's alternative rock, and not the top 40 stations that play that Lady Gaga bullshit and the like.

I just think popular music is degrading further and further as the years pass. Like someone in another thread said, certain "artists" are becoming popular for the wrong reasons. However, I think that there is still hope in the less mainstream acts. Good music exists still; you just have to look for it. Anyhoo...

Rydia, every Poison song is about either a stripper, sex, or has a stripper in their video. It's what made the 80s and grimey hair metal so awesome.

I also came to this thread expecting it to be about what songs you bang to. I left disappointed.

I will agree that a lot of today's pop music has a lot of sexual overtones, some way more than others. That's why I don't even really listen to the radio in my car, but rather blast my ipod, loaded up with music that doesn't blow.

Those are the lyrics from Saving Abel - Addicted that my girlfriend has set to play every time I call/text her. I didn't know this until I was bugging her by texting her while she was texting someone else. It went off in front of her parents, it was a bit.... awkward.


But I'd agree, more and more songs are getting pretty sex-oriented, and considering it's music that's mostly listened to by teenagers, I find that disturbing to an extent.

I thought this thread was going to be about music you listen to during sex. I was so totally gonna say that Tool - Pushit is a favorite of mine. >_>;
