Free Concerts

As the summer is upon us, Towns cities try to plan more outdoor events. In Buffalo, where I live most of these events are centered around music and beer. They actually have a pretty good lineup of concerts around the area and one is usually going on everyday of the week. We have Rusted Root, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Umphrey's McGee, M.O.E, Keller Williams, Derek Trucks, and several others I can't remember at the moment comming to play here.

Anyone have similar events around where you live that you like to go too? The ones here usually go from right after work 5/6pm-9/10pm. So the main bands only play for one set, but since it is free I love going to them.

The Riverfront Amphitheater that's in my town has free concerts sometimes, and there's a restaurant that opens up the beer garden when the weather permits it to be open, and they always have live and local bands playing. I think there was a time they got a more "established" band to play there, but I didn't go.

Only free concert that I ever went to was last year during the Fourth of July celebration. There was a display going on near the river, so the family and I went to check it out. Afterwards, they had a live band playing that you could watch. Pretty sure it's going to happen again this year, but I doubt I'll go, only because it gets so hot during that time of year, and it was also crazy-packed with people.

At the end of the summer, Fayetteville has an event called Bikes, Blues, and BBQ. It's mostly an excuse for bikers to gather and talk about all things motorcycles, but there's free concerts as well. Oh, and of course food. I personally haven't been to this event, but I know people who did go, and they had a blast.
