Personally I dispise the song but that is simply because it is not the style of music I enjoy, maybe if I liked that type of music it would be okay but I dont so...
It is constantly playing in my head these days, because it is so awesome. I've always wanted to play a synthesizer (or whatever that instrument at the beginning of the song is) and I enjoy listening to that beat.
The lyrics are quite nice, when you look deeper into them, and the music video helps too. It feels so forlorn and sad that people have to grow up, hence the line "I'd like to make myself believe, that planet Earth turns slowly" I for one would've liked to be a kid a while longer........*sigh*......
"Take a chance.....roll the dice.......pick a card....whatever suits your game.....you'll lose either way...."

definatley an alright song, but OwlCity hs much,MUCH better ones. try Hot Air Ballon or Vanilla Twilight.
Stop.
Listen.
Think.
Create.
dare to do
I like Owlcity and most of their songs but their is just something about fireflies that pisses me off. Dont' know what but there is defineately something...
Its an okay song, but not one of their best. I prefer "Saltwater Room" or "Vanilla Twilight". But the song has really cute lyrics. I myself though think they don't really have to do with people having to grow up, but that the singer of Owl City, Adamn Young, has chronic insomnia, and thus through his lyrics tells the world of his difficulties of falling asleep. But the lyrics could mean something entirely different than that.
<.< Damn... now I have the song stuck in my head.

I really enjoy listening to that song. I really don't know why other people hates it. It has a nice melody and catchy lyrics.
Actually i really like it even considering how over played it is on the radio, i like it that much I have it as my ringtone on my phone. Its catchy and i am curious to know what the song is about

Anyone else think it's awesomely appropriate that a thread about a song called "Fireflies" was started by Firefly?
Anyway, it does have a nice beat, but it's not really my type of song. If it comes on the radio, I wouldn't change the station, but I'm not downloading it to my iPod.

I honestly can't ****ing stand this song...I generally hate most songs on the radio but this song made it worse for me...
I really liked Owl City before he came mainstream. So I like Fireflies. It is not the best song on the album though imo. That's not even my favourite album of his. But that's ohkay. I hear it constantly on the radio. At least 4 times a day and I don't listen to the radio that much. It's great though. He deserves the recognition =]
This song would be better if it didn't come onto the radio every 13 minutes on EVERY radio station... I literally have changed through 3 stations where they were each playing it at the same time... I wanted to drive off a bridge >.>
Holy shit, After the bands show last night we we're at a friends doing karaoke* and we did Fireflies but all screams lol. Made the song so epix
I love this song
I actually really love the song. My local radio station plays it several times a day, and usually it really bothers me and makes me hate a song, but I love hearing it whenever. Not usually the kind of music I like, but yeah, good song.
Yeah I like the song for some reason, don't know why anyway. i guess i've heard it so many times that the song is stuck in my head.

I can't stand it! People have been going crazy over the song and think it's Owl City's first song.. It's probably the worst song they have ever written...

xTidus: "You have problems..."

Both: *giggles*
Never heard of it but that doesn't surprise me I don't listen to the radio a lot

I rather detested it myself... Its too pansy... He sounds more depressed than Cloud. I know so many people who like it and its pissing me off. My friend's brother even taught himself to play it on the piano... Had to listen to that too... better than the real version.
I absolutely can't stand Fireflies. >=3 First off, it sounds completely dull and highly annoying. Also, the lyrics are just lame. Yeah, I wouldn't listen to a song just because it has a nice tune or anything; lyrics matter a lot. Compare the lyrics of any of Evanescence's songs to this song and you'd have pure poetry versus random crap. ._.
Yeah, the song isn't great at all. I don't see why so many people like it.
