Dream Theater, anyone?

God, i love this band, i saw them October 2007 in Glasgow and it was the best concert i have ever been to. Honest to god, they sound EXACTLY like thye do on the albums!!

John Petrucci is amazing live, sometimes he just goes into these incredible solos that take your breath away (even if they're not in the song they are playing). Portnoy's simply incredible on the drums, the damn thing must have taken up half of his body and he plays with such energy and enthusiasm.....

The best thing is that they really try to make you feel part of the entire concert and give you as good an experience as possible. If you can, i really recommend you see them.

Metropolis Pt2 was a fantastic Album, one of the best i have ever brought, it told a story rather than just a mishmash of songs. "Finally Free" was an amazing song i thought and really thought it summed up the whole album for me.

Album wise i have... Octavarium (the entire album was so brilliantly thought through), Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (Not bad, but not as good as the others), Metropolis Pt2 (one of the best albums ever), and Systematic Chaos (this gets played loudly in the car alot).

My favorite song is Octavarium, it's just so clever in execution.

Hell yea man, a couple of years back I used to jam to Systematic Chaos, and it was a damn good CD. Other then that I haven't heard any other of their CD's (Maybe I will go check them out on YouTube later)

I know of Dream Theater, but haven't taken the time to hear their newest stuff. The only album I actually managed to hear (and have, to an extent) is Awake, which IIRC is its second album.

I like from that album the first two (6:00 and Caught in a Web), the first part of their composite instrumental song (Erotomania; the other two are Voices and The Silent Man) and Lifting Shadows of a Dream (when I want to chill out).

Oh, and then there's Pretender, but that's not from Dream Theater but from a separate album from LaBrie. The change in the voice is pretty notable, though he still speaks in a hard to understand accent.

You're lucky. I was going to go to that, but ran into some money issues.

So, yeah, I like Dream Theater. The band has some amazing songs, and they're incredibly talented. My favourite album's probably Octavarium.
