Most j pop/ j rock acts i know i heard in anime and games. Two acts stand out for me, High and mighty color(Ichirin no hana especially) and Asian kung fu generation. Anything composed by Yoko Kanno is good as well, especially Kiseki no umi which is now one of my favourite songs.

yeah, yeah, me...i really love listening to any japanese songs..especially from anime series and drama...i remember when i was in high school i memorize a japanese song which is a theme of FUSHIGI YUUGI...i sing it every time i feel board with knowing the meaning..hehehe
Yeah, I like some JP music. But I don't really keep up with bands in particular any more than I do for domestic music (which is not at all). I listen to a lot of rock instrumental stuff. Think Guilty Gear/Daisuke Ishiwatari kind of music. I'm a huge fan of B'z, but there aren't a TON of artists that I follow much. It's mostly just individual songs I hear that stick out to me, the majority of them I hear in games or anime. I have a very eclectic taste in music, so I like a variety of things from Akatsuki no Kuruma to the final boss ver. of Burn My Dread. I just don't like things that have too much of a pop sound to them.
A friend of mine has also turned me on to Vocaloid "chorus" renditions, some of which are just amazing. My favorite is definitely Love is War. AnotherNicoUploader had it up on youtube, I think.
I luv japanese and russian music so it would be a great help to me if i ... if you google: japanese contemporary christian music That brings up a few sites. hope that helps.
I don't seek jap music out, but I have loved some of the soundtracks I've gotten free with videogames that had Jap music on them. Atlus published games in particular often have a nice sound on their free OSTs.

ok l love japanese music mostly j-rock but i like a lil j-pop! whats your fav. japanese band and song? -Orange Range -malice mizer -Glay -L'arc~en~ciel -chemistry -Puffy Ami Yumi (err??)
I enjoy some Japanese music. Most of it I hear through anime openings and the such, so I really don't get too much of it on a regular basis. Every now and then I'm granted with an amazing band. Like recently I was introduced to Theatre Brook via the Durarara opening. *See below*
This was a joke from a game I played... and then it became posted so much (almost to the point of Rick-Rolled) that it's now ingrained into me...
Lately I have became a pretty big fan of Girugamesh, and Larc' En Ciel. They are both very good bands...

I'm a fan of Gackt, not much else for Japanese music I like though.
For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting. Blessed are the Madmen, for they hold the keys to secret knowledge. Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.
Hopefully I didnt already say this but check out Aural Vampire.

I do. But I don't get a chance to hear it often. Very rarely, in fact.
I like songs by Ayumi Hamasaki, Utada Hikaru and Gackt Camui. My favourite album is Guilty by Ayumi Hamasaki (most probably because of its rock overtones).
Gackt has some good songs like Lust for Blood, Longing and Redemption. He's a great singer as well as a good cosplayer. In fact I suggest that you take a look at his music videos.
Last but not least, I love Uematsu's music. His music is awesome especially the main themes. I missed his music in the last few Final Fantasy games. I'm really looking forward to the music of Final Fantasy XIV since he's going to be the main composer.
SPOILER!!:
