    The Absence

Ok, let's try something new this time. Instead of creating a thread about a band everyone or almost everyone knows, lol, let's talk about a band not very well known just yet. That band is The Absence, an American melodic death metal band that released an incredible album in 2007 called "Riders of the Plague. I've been listening to them non-stop and I seriously expect great things from them in the future, though I've found great things from them already. An incredible example of that would be the Testament cover, "Into the Pit".

I seriously could listen to this song over and over and still love it when I'm 60 years old. It's one of the best cover songs that has graced my ears and from my experience it's difficult for a lot of bands or singers to cover anything without sounding like crap. That's not even the best part. Their main single based on the name of the album is brutal as ****.

Of course, I don't expect a lot of people at TFF to enjoy death metal or metal in general, but for anybody who enjoys getting a refreshing blast of shredding guitar riffs and precise drumming, The Absence is perfect. It's like sitting front of a giant amp at full volume and jumping like a madman.

    What do you guys think?

Scar Symmetry. One of my favourite bands for the past few months. Amazing sound and style. They do what they do really well and as they continue to tour and create a name for themselves I expect them to do really well. But again like Vicious said, they are for fans of the heavier music genres.

The Illusionist-The only single if I remember right, but dont hold me to that.

Dreaming 24/7-A nice blend of softer melodic and deep harsh vocals.

    Mind machine
-One of their less heavy songs.

@ Vicious: I cant say too much on The Absence yet. Ill have to listen to a few more songs first...

Ironic you mention Scar Symmetry because Jonas Kjellgren (guitarist) mixed The Absence's album into what it is now. I'd say that explains the good quality and sound the album has. Either way, you should definitely listen through all their songs. You can find them on youtube and so far there has only been one song that hasn't stuck to me as well as the rest of their music.

    .

You know if it wasn't for being on TFF, I wouldn't have gotten into music like this as well as other genres. haha Strange how that happens.

Anyways, I remember you showing me this on MSN the other day. I really like it. I like the heaviness of it and the guitar riffs of it are ****ing sick!! I need to check out more songs as well. Interesting band.

Very good, very technical. The solo within the first 30 seconds got me interested.

I didn't really get into death metal until a few months ago, i started listening to Bring me the Horizon and then Behemoth and just went from there.

Problem with bands like this is that this kind of music is generally shunned by the rest of the music industry, without them realizing the amount of work that goes into music like this. Which is why i like it.

But The Absence seem like a band going places. I could certainly listen to more of that

Terrible band - then again almost all Gothenburg shit is horrid.

FYI: The are NOT a melodic death metal band because for that to be the case they'd have to be a death metal band - which they are not. Melo-death =/= Melodic Death - it is stupid shit that is confusing but that is how it is.
