I don't know if you intend to keep this open for conversation or not - but I'll go ahead and stick this and make it a news topic so that it gets posted across the applicable media outlets.

I suppose this would also be a good place for people to pander for your votes! Take your podiums! Make your arguments! Win your adoring audiences!

If we are leaving this open for conversation, I meant to note something in the nominations thread: I feel that "Best Grammar" should be converted to a bogus award rather than an official award, because what matters most in our conversations here is that cohesive thought is purveyed. Just because some may type more fluidly than others does not make their opinions any more important than those of anyone else. Just my two cents!

With that in mind, I feel it appropriate to campaign for myself for Music Guru of 2013. I know y'all like video game music, but check this out: I went and listened to all new original music that came out this year, and I put ten of my favorite original songs from this year into two lists, found here and here. I am here to show y'all that there is still new, interesting, great music to listen to that is being made yearly. Not just the crap you hear on the top 40 radio stations, but music that is worth being listened to. Open your minds, and you will find new and exciting visions and sounds. Don't settle for the same old tired formulas you hear on the radio. There's a big world out there to explore!

Also, lawl. Maybe, just maybe, I have something planned to get myself banned... Whatever it is, it would be cunning and you wouldn't see it coming. Anyhoo...

I would like to do the exact opposite.

Instead of standing at my podium and shouting to the heavens how I'm better than the other guy---in this case, Telegraph---I'm going to go against all logic and tear myself down (since that's an area where I truly excel). I will attempt to present reasons why I shouldn't win anything here, especially an award as all-encompassing as a title like Music Guru suggests:

1. Calling me a Music Guru is egregious if you know how stringent and self-restricting my musical tastes are. It would be like calling an Apple Store employee a Technology Guru.
2. My ego does not need a good stroking.
3. I dislike winning awards of any kind, as I never feel like I truly deserve them.
4. There's a good chance I will go dormant at any given moment, only to return a number of years later--not unlike Alucard who only awakens when Dracula needs vanquishing. Would you really vote for and support a Music Guru in absentia? I know I wouldn't!
5. If there's any award I should win, it's Guru of Wasting Your Time With Long Posts. I know I'd get loaf's vote.
6. One among you will shortly perish.
7. And if there's any award I would want to win, it's---well, I won't tell you (because I would probably win it [and I don't want to win anything])

In closing, I would like to thank those who nominated me for their consideration. I'm... flattered? Surprised? Shocked? Something like that? However, my abhorrence for awards would force me to vacate any award presented to me. Any award would immediately be defenestrated. Thank you.
