I meant it -does- matter, but not to the cops, they'll do whatever they want regardless.

lol Kinda reminds me of when I got stopped by a state trooper.. He found a blunt roach in my cup holder, pulled me out of the car, searched the car - and me - shoving his hands down my pockets and whatnot. I didn't know that that was illegal even for a state trooper until like 2 years later.

The gubment doesn't get it right 'cuz they do what benefits -them-. .. On a larger scale anyway. Or well, at least that's kinda my opinion on it.

Most citizens in the US don't know their rights. Especially on the state level. He would have to have probably cause to search your car (smell is prominent). If you were arrested, he should have read the miranda to you. It's good to be critical about your own rights as a citizen because it keeps corrupt officials from walking all over everyone and doing what we all hate - exactly what they want. They are people too.

Normal citizens. They have good or bad views, some can be bad. Some can be very bad when they are given certain powers.

The roach had been from the night before, there was no smell in my car 'cuz I'd been driving with the windows down and had sprayed air freshener. I had gone to Nashville to pick up my last check from my old job, crashed at someone's house for the night, and made the 4 hr trip back to my parents' the next morning. The roach was in like some dried coke, so I didn't see it (both being brown and whatnot). It's not the searching my car that's the issue, it's searching my actual -person-. I didn't know that even state troopers were supposed to call for female back up if they wanted to do a physical search on a suspect. I wasn't arrested or anything, just given a hefty speeding ticket.
