I have a PSP 2000, and my little sister has a PSP 3000, i don't notice that much differences...

But the PSP 3000 has a build in microphone which can be usefull... The PSP 2000 has non microphone so is you want one you are froced to buy a headset from sony because mic and headphone use one plug...

The PSP 2000 and PSP 3000 have also the same updates, this means that theire won't be any differences in the OFFICIAL software...

You can put it like: "PSP 3000 is an upgraded PSP 2000 with almost same price"
so you get more for only a few more €5 (depending on the store...)

i don't think they sell psp 2000 new... but the 3000 is a little bit better
