Even if it just datamines, like this one. I used some Japanese UI modifier the last time I played (Because FFXIs was just horrid) and everywhere around the sites for it were big letters saying "USE AT OWN RISK, SQUEENIX HATES US AND WILL TERMINATE YOUR ACCOUNT"

Even though all the program did was modify how the game's UI parses combat log data and created multiple windows for specific types of combat log events, such as debuffs wearing off. I only found it highly useful since I was leveling my RDM and all I ever really did was spam debuffs and spot heal.

So I'd assume it'll cause you to get a canceled account if caught.

FFXIAH is legit because it interacts with the PlayOnline website and the Linkshell Community, not the game itself. It extracts player data from the regularly updated website servers as opposed to the live server.

Datamining directly from the game gives the program direct access to the FFXI servers, and is a security risk. In that instance, it would break the ToS.

All Windower tools were technically against the ToS whether you used them for botting or not, simply because they were capable of doing so.

On the other hand, programs like Fraps which don't actually interact with the game's programming, or Xfire, which loads its programming as an overlay on top of the game, are not against the ToS in the least, simply because they don't do (and aren't capable of doing) anything to actually affect gameplay.
