Haha, that's so cool I never would have figured that out I liked the piano version when I heard it, and knew right away it wasn't something I heard in the game. It was bothering me for a while, but I guess we both know now I have the piano version on my ipod.

I think it does make a good Tidus and Yuna the theme, silly Asians :]

I've been meaning to ask you something and I keep forgetting, since you seem to be more familiar with FF music than I am, have you heard this theme from X before?

I stumbled on it on YouTube a while ago and I don't think it's actually in the game....unless it's a song in the game that was translated into piano and I just haven't realized. The only song I can think of that's kind of similar to it would be the ending theme :s

So I'm guessing it's not in the game?

You are right, I haven't played Magna Carta. Since it's not the the VAs that got you hooked, what is it about the game that you like? Just curious, looking for a new game to play.

Idk, voice acting has been touchy for me. It seems like either the dialogue is bad or the voices are bad, and if theyre both not spot on for me, then I can get annoyed real quick and I zone out/skip dialogue to get through it. If it were up to me, I would ban voice acting in just about every rpg game possible lol. Props to you for being able to put up with it though.

I'd counter with how "Setting the Trap" (instrumental, John Williams, Home Alone soundtrack) builds the scene. It would be dull to see how, say, Kevin builds his home defense without the way the movie fits. Yet, the song itself has a strong, independent feel; you can enjoy it on your own without the need of a movie. In that sense, while it is a strong and independent piece, it also completes (not compliments) the scene.

Nobuo's battle themes in a way become awkward because there is no scene that catches their feeling appropriately. Consider placing a close-combat battle theme and synch the strikes with an arbitrarily chosen beat of any of the songs; few if any scenes would match the speed. Yet, compare, say..."Who Am I?" (which, while not a battle theme it IS a Uematsu score) and place it on a horror movie, specifically on a scene with a dissociative identity disorder-suffering character or paranoid is around; almost a perfect fit.

Uematsu's themes don't merely compliment, but complete the scene on a videogame. So does the songs of other composers.

I'd say I also forgot Yuzo Koshiro (but he doesn't work for Square), or Yoshino Aoki (but he works for Capcom).

Was Yiazmat a regular mark though, or was it an elite mark? Fafnir was just a regular one. I'll have to check on Yiazmat. Been a while since I looked up info on the hunts.

I also don't seem to recall at the moment the T-Rex you're talking about. It does sound tough though.

Yeah, I heard it was the toughest regular mark in the game! I can't get him to show up though... I always miss the heavy weather conditions that are needed for him to actually appear. I'll try again soon, but with FF XIII on the horizon, if I plan to do it, I had better before that game gets released!
