Nevar! ...okay.
Your opinion is required in this thread. As music guru of the prior year. Get on it!
Muahahaha. I've been busy IRL, working two jobs and barely posting here. Yet it still looks like I'm all over the forum. Omnipresence, bitch.
Shut the **** up with your multiple accounts!!
I started listening to it again after I messaged you yesterday actually, and decided I liked it better than I remembered. I was just not in the mood for most music at the time I bought it, I think. Stressful time. I'll look into last.fm at some point. I know a lot of people use it and like it, but right now I'm feeling lazy, haha. Oh yeah, another band I've been finding myself getting more interested in is Swingin' Utters. I actually heard a song by them I liked years ago, but I guess it wasn't what I was expecting. Their secondary singer is the lead singer for Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (I imagine you've heard of them if not Swingin' Utters) and is also probably a better overall singer than the guy who usually sings lead. So when I went to listen to them, I was like "...whaaa?" But I guess he's better for a punk rock sound than Spike. But yeah; Swingin' Utters actually have a lot of variety to their music. An accoustic, remorseful song is followed immediately by a hardcore one on this one album-Dead Flowers, Bottles, Bluegrass and Bones-and I love it.
Let this convince you then (seriously.. because it's like the best song on the album, and if you don't like it, you may as well not bother with the rest haha): Last.fm is free for the main idea of it, like the statistics and getting all the band information you could possibly ever shake a stick at, as well as songs, band pictures, and videos. Not to mention groups, other people who just pop by and might comment on your taste and recommend you stuff and so on... They charge a small fee for the use of their radio service. If you go to my page you'll see that under my dp it says 'subscriber'. That means I pay moneys for the radio. It's totally worth it imo. So much new music; stuff you'd never find independently. That's how I found this, and then I found the album (Intuit) at a music store for $5. It's amazing, but I wouldn't have known of it any other way. You get a free trial of that for a month when you sign up though, and there's no obligation to subscribe to it. And even if you do, you can just do it for a month ($1.00), as you need/want it. But yeah, otherwise completely free. Do iiiiitttt. EDIT: Oh an another thing; it makes gig recommendations too -- for bands you've listened to and like, and ones it thinks you'll like. That's actually how I heard about Die! Die! Die! coming back to my city in July.
Maybe I'll try listening to it again, but I remember it being a little too slow for my tastes. Even though I like slow music sometimes. But not always. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood at the time, though. I was kinda not in the mood for music when I got it, so... Is last.fm a service that costs money, or is it free?
Newest album of Metric? Is that Fantasies? I actually think that's a really good album. A really big improvement on their 2005 album Live It Out at any rate. And you should definently get a Last.fm. If anything, the statistics are fascinating. But more importantly, there's a cool radio feature (free trial for a month, and then like USD$1 per month after that). You start off by giving the name of an artist or a 'tag' (like, 'female vocalist', or a genre), and then it has a look at what's already in your library (i.e. what you're already familar with, within the term you've specified) -- and then avoids it, feeding you artists you haven't heard of, but are similar to things you like. It's a fantastic way to hear 'new' artists. I swear by it.
NWA, eh? I've thought about getting an album of theirs too, actually. Ended up just finding Body Count's "Cop Killer" instead though, heh. I realize they have nothing to do with NWA, but yeah. Oh yeah, that song on the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack is awesome! I loved when it came on. My favorite off that ended up being Black Sheep by Metric though. Then I got their newest album, and was kinda like "Eh." Also, the Crash and the Boys songs (I forget who that actual band was.) I might check out more Plumtree though, if I remember them when my emusic account renews next month. I hadn't seen that, and that's awesome, thankee for sharing, sir! I think that might be my favorite song off that album too, and that that might be my favorite album. Even though apparently critics didn't care for it as much... *shrug* Maybe I should get a last.fm. Hm... Anyhoo... Wuv, Yer Mom
Recently, I haven't been listening to much beyond what I usually listen to. Though I did get Straight Outta Compton today. But that is so out of character it's not even funny. Other than that, recent additions have been stuff by Plumtree. I bought their only (...I think) album on iTunes, and went to their website for free music (always a good tactic). You probably know the song 'Scott Pilgrim' from... well, that's obvious. But they've got some other really good songs. Oh man, I really like Architecture in Helsinki. Have you seen this? I can't remember if I first saw it here or on Facebook. This is my last.fm, by the way. Just to give you an idea of my tastes.
What've you been listening to lately? I got this tonight because it was two dollars, heh. Also got Bre Loughlin's solo album. She was the singer for the band "Daylight Basement." I heard them on the local college station a few years back, then got their album. Couple songs for ya. You ever listen to Architecture in Helsinki? Their new album reminds me of Erasure kinda, heh. Like, the way he sings on a few songs, to how some of their synths sound. Wonder if it was on purpose, heh.
Your tastes never fail. I feel we should talk music more often (/ at all).
Thankee sir, for your confidence in my tastes, heh. Glad you like them
Seriously man. Right after I wrote that, I saw that you were gonna take off for a while for school work Haha.
Haha, "on a lot". Ironic reading this after over a month without a visit.
