It's kinda long...
Thunder cracked as large flashes illuminated the sky. Rumbles echoed like a stampede of wildebeasts, trying to escape from the predatorious howls of the wind. Lightning branched towards the ground, as if cracking the sky open. The sharp, jagged cracks struck the forest countless times, creating a snap as if it was stepping on sticks.
The black night was flashing with every lightning strike. Mist was crawling through the darkness, carrying the scent of death across the mountains. As the eerie night stood restless, the bitter wind screamed through the trees.
It roared and howled at the forest. The ominous presence shrouded the mountainous region, as the raging storm scattered throughout the trees, weaving through them like a ghostly snake, blowing the harsh rain with it.
The heavy rain hurred as it splashed violently onto the leaves. Cold liquid drenched every surface of the trees. It plunged to the marshy ground. The swamped undergrowth was wilting, as the dark green leaves turned to brown and rotted under the sea of mist.
In a small section of the forest, large trees sheltered the ground from the showering rain. They creaked and rustled, as the gales clashed with the forest guardians. The interlocking branches were like boney hands, reaching out to steal the stars. Towering over the rotting undergrowth, a small gap in the hands had opened for the bright, shimmering moon.
Sitting on a thin cloud, the mysterious moon shined from behind the dark clouds that were trying to smother the night's only light source. As the moon struggled to keep the night bright enough to see the silhouettes of the oak trees, a thin light appeared on the head of a deer.
The mist surrounding the creature dispersed, to reveal the skeletal carcass lying motionless on the ground. Its white eyes emitted that of the moon. The decaying flesh had been devoured. Three of the four legs were snapped and out of place. The immature antlers were still attached to the red, blood-stained head. Blood seeped through the gashes and the opened chest, mixing with the rain. As it lay there, motionless in a pool of crimson, the barren silence filled the forest.
No animal could be seen. No cry could be heard. Nothing but the rain collonated the forest with its presence. The animals were hiding in every crevice possible, to shelter from the on-going storm. Every gap in the trees were full of small, cowering mammals as they shivered and jumped with every flash of lightning.
The leaves rustled as they were separated from the trees. They blew in the wind, creating small whirlwinds, encircling the nearby plants. Brown with a lack of sunlight. Shrivelled with the lack of food. The leaves slammed against the thick trunks of the trees, crumbling, then being taken away by the wind.
For those few plants sheltered from the rain, they were smothered by the haunting mist. The thin cloud creeped along, wrapping the deer carcass in a sheet. As it crawled along, the mist stalked a murderous wolf.
The grey wolf stood over the bloody carcass. The sharp canines dripping with blood. Fur plastered to the skin. The wolf's paws were covered in mud and stained with its victim's blood. As its ears pricked up, the wolf's luminous eyes glared at the moon through the mist and branching trees. A sudden gust of bitter wind sweeped past the lone-wolf, as it howled into the sleepless Autumn night.
I know there are spelling mistakes and it is a little gory... What do you think?
