Actually, Squall's among the best characters to play as. Why? His Ex Mode turns ALL of his attacks critical! That means he can easily break opponents!
Well now, this sucks. I have the answer to your previous question: playing as Squall, Cloud, and perhaps Cecil.
When you get to the final stage, you have to carry one character through several battles, and finally get to Chaos. You can be Luneth, Terra, or even Zidane. When you unlock the villains, you can fight against him with them in Quick Battle.
Then you can play as anybody against Chaos?
As much as I'd dislike playing as Cloud, I'll do it... to get to Chaos.

Pretty much. You have to play through ALL ten stories to get to the next mode of play. And then go pretty much through the same process a second time, only harder. And after THAT, go through a stage or two to get to the final boss. Yeah, they paced it as annoying as possible.
That doesn't sit well with me? Well, I'm not sure yet. But I heard that you need all ten crystals to fight Chaos, right? Does this mean I'm forced to play as all of them??
