Tell me, you're Transformers fan (I assume judging by your avatar)? If so, do you like Bay's movies? I've seen a lot of fans complaining and judging his work which is strange to me to be honest. Transformers, both cartoons and comic books, never were anything beyond giant robots fighting each other, perhaps I'm missing something, and that's exactly what Bay delivered.

Armageddon is a decent place to start. I found it to be the best out of the PS2 era. I thought MK didn't have the 3D plain down until Armageddon came out, but they pulled it off pretty well. The other two (Deadly Alliance and Deception) were good games, and you may want to try those down the line sometime. Only thing is, from MK4 (which is not very good at all) up until Armageddon is very different from the classic MK, and even the new one. I would definitely recommend Armageddon as a starting point though.

Out of all fighting games Mortal Kombat would be the series I have least experience with. I played the first two in arcades and the fourth one on my PSOne (that one sucked pretty bad imo), but that's about it. I suggest you ask ZantetsukeN, that guy knows everything there is to be known about Mortal Kombat.

My main party is is the six characters you start with (Marche, Montblanc, a human, viera, nu mou, and bangaa). I kept most of them as their starting job, only changing the human to thief. They were my main battle force. After they had learned all the abilities available at the time, I would switch them. Now I have three of each race, and most are different jobs. My original 6 are now sent on the dispatch missions because they are the strongest, and the extra characters are used as replacements when one of the originals is out.

Keep in mind the laws of each battle. Spoiler: As the game progresses, the number of active laws increases. I am up to three laws. The most annoying combination is one where I couldn't use Attack, Skills, and Color Magic. I managed to win using Techniques and a Time Mage. It took a long while, but I managed it.

I am half-finished with FTT Advance. Each race has certain jobs they can be, and abilities are learned through the equipment you purchase or receive (like in FFIX). It can seem repetitive, being "Battle, battle, battle, cutscene". It's story is very good so far, and the use of colors is much better in Advance than in the PS1 version of FFT. The background of the original FFT was quite dull (in my opinion), and Advance is very vibrant and vivid. And battles don't last as long as in FFT. I have spent close to an hour on one battle in that, as opposed to 10-15 minutes in Advance.

So far, it is a good game. I am 47 hours in, and as I said, only half-finished. I hope you enjoy it!
