    Cool. I don't read your journal though. I don't read anyone's really.

Haha, that is pretty awesome. I should show it to my friends, and tell them it is their mascot.

I feel you there. I don't think I do enough, either. I give blood and go help at some church events, but those are fairly easy to do. Mostly, I think I haven't gone to the soup kitchen to help yet, is because that would require me to figure out where to go, express interest, and sign up. If I could get past that and committed myself to doing it, I would probably be doing it regularly. I wonder if I need a food handler's license.

That's good that I'm not annoying you or anything. Keep up the good fight, Jerald. Anyhoo...

That probably does describe me somewhat. I've been becoming more involved in the local Four Square church that my friends attend and are even in leadership of, and I've done a lot of worshipping and corporate prayer with them, too. In fact, if it weren't for choir and my family being in the Catholic church, I might be going there full time.

So you don't think it's important to explore your faith on your own at all? I still recommend it, regardless of whether you think you get enough from the sermons. Particularly Psalms, Proverbs, letters from Paul, John, James, etc.

Y'know what? You're a really smart person. I'm glad that you asked me for advice that one time, but it's clear that you don't need it from me. Whatever questions you have, you can probably figure out better on your own. I'll stop bothering you about this. Anyhoo...

EDIT: And last week, I think I was in a fairly bad mood, for some reason. I think I was still worn out by the week before, maybe. I dunno.

Even though it was last week and I don't clearly remember what was said anymore, it felt a lot like you were putting words in my mouth. I was feeling rather frustrated with you at the time, so it's probably a good thing that you apparently took a week off from TFF, haha.

Another thing friends brought up: how do you know how to live the word if you don't read it? You go to church and listen to the sermons, true enough, but you might find that you get more from actually reading it than listening to it. Sit there and reflect on what you've read, make your own ideas, instead of just taking what you're able to hear and remember from the gospel, and then hearing what the priest thought in his sermon. I don't know that they go over everything that's in the Bible-or probably in the gospel- all year round, either.

Oh yeah, and you never answered my question: how do you like your priest's sermons? I've told you how I've felt about mine.

All I really want to do is be a good influence on you, since you came to me for advice before. I don't want to be the reason that you turn away from the church or anything. Then again, you haven't been coming to me for anything since then, so maybe you have this figured out for yourself. Anyhoo...

Yeah, accents are less prominent in singing.

When did you talk to Kasabian?

I stood next to dEUS' singer at a bar after a concert once. Should have run home and get all my CDs and LPs to get them signed, since I live not much more than a kilometer away from that place. I couldn't think of anything to ask him though, since I already knew when the new album would arrive.

Plus he was being hit on by two chicks, and it didn't seem right to interrupt.

If someone is an utter arsehole, they proably don't truly honestly profess faith in Christ, eh? I don't know why you present these ideas to me, btw Given what I said, I don't think I was suggesting that. Or are you just talking out loud?

Haha... I am debating on which thread I want to post in to break my 4 digit hymen. It's a big decision.

I don't know if its necessary to read the Bible to get to Heaven, as per many people over the centuries could not read, and Bibles were very hard to come by. However, I believe that living in and knowing the Word helps your walk a lot.

Well I got tired of reading the same jargan through out 7 different threads so I figured why the hell not. Glad it is appriciated.

Also now I can moderate a little harder on the threads that might come up that are political. Keep people from derailing threads with the whole Obama hate posts.

I meant it as straight forward as possible: "Do you think it's necessary to read the Bible?" Hm. How is your priest over there? I don't always get a lot out of what our priest says in his sermons. I like it more when visiting priests come to our church. Our priest usually starts talking about some event that happened to him recently, and maybe a few sentences about the sermon.

I had read or heard someone say somewhere that it's important to read the Word every day, so I have picked up that habit. It's funny how Catholics have a reputation of never reading the Bible, heh. Someone at our church joked about it in our Confirmation classes. Anyhoo...

I've got another question for you, related to the other one: What do you think it means to be Christian? Actually, I have two. Three: How often do you read the Bible? and Do you think it's necessary?

I'll answer my own questions: I think being a christian means that you do your best to follow Jesus's teachings. To know His teachings, it is somewhat required to read the Bible and know what He said, so I read the Bible every day (though generally not the Gospel... I should read that again. Probably one of the best parts.) Although I think other parts of the Bible are valuable as well; like Paul's letters, the letters of John, James, etc. (James' will kick your ass.)

Sometimes, I forget I'm supposed to be Christlike. Sometimes, I'm not very Christlike at all. Sometimes, I forget that I should be doing things to better myself, and I sit around all day on the internet or playing video games (okay, most days...) I suppose through Grace, however, I am saved.

Am I bludgeoning you with a shovel with this right now? Sorry. Anyhoo...

P.S. I've got nothing against children's music. I love the Flemish and Dutch folk songs (I am a cantus man ).

But seeing a rock band (or electro or pretty much any other modern genre band) singing in Dutch is weird most of the time. We can't help it.

P.P.S. I could have just said 'Because English is the lanugage of rock', and it would have been equally true. And a lot shorter.

P.P.P.S. I had already seen that video. It's still funny though. There's a video that compiles all videos in which Homme is a little pissed (rightfully though). It's called 'Josh Homme is awesome'.

The reason they sing in English. Pfooh.

Singing in Dutch is not normal in Belgium (or the Netherlands) for a rock band. The Belgian and Dutch folk music never evolved into new cool genres like rock'n'roll (like it tends to do in other countries) or even pop, so pretty much all rock bands nowadays sing in English.

Why would you sing in a language that only about 22 million speak, you know? When there's a language you speak pretty well, and is THE language of rock'n'roll?

Almost all the songs that are written in Dutch are either really lame or for children. Or schlagers for old people (or drunk people). Although there are a few pop/rock bands that sing in Dutch, and are considered pretty good bands (I can think of three right now).

English is the language of music in most Northern European countries. Obviously, it's because of Britain's (and the US') authority on all things rock/pop since like the late 1950s.

It's an interesting subject though. Me and a friend sometimes talk about how Britain's political power resulted in British rock becoming pop, instead of Eastern European music becoming pop, you know.

Singing in English is not really a conscious choice though, it's more of a natural thing...

So yeah, it's only logical, you know? The English sung music has had the greatest impact in the last century.
