It's 4:36 a.m. I stay up really late when I have nothing to do. It's hard to sleep sometimes, as well. What time is it over there?

Pretty much. I still like drawing, but I'm not going to pursue it as a career any time soon.

Very delayed response, but.. I think it means that I am also an unmotivated artist XD.

I was just talking to my friend who came back from a year in Europe (England mainly) yesterday. He said it's cold like he's never known cold. Considering I've only been in snow once in my life, that's not hard. I'd have to climb a mountain just to get some.

I like when Santa suits get modified to shorts, vests and jandals. Sort of like this guy:

Hah, take that page! Fill with pictures!

But everything 'Christmassy' is imported from the Northern Hemisphere. So we get fake snow on windows, roast meals, Santa outfits, etc., which doesn't look right to me. I've always wanted a cold Christmas, as it would just make sense, what with stockings over the fireplace and stuff.

This is what I associate with Christmas:

  6. My city is rolling at -15oc today, not counting windchill. Snow everywhere. Northern France is the problem and is warmer, should hopefully be normal by Monday. I'm praying to the transport gods. Bigger problem is whether my Megabus will make it up the motorways, they're notoriously retarded when it comes to a bit of snow. Really want to come home!

And I liked your <3. Nice touch. That's the first time I've written one too.

Yeah I eventually decided to make that leap over. I've been coming to the main site for a while, just never the forums, I do that a lot actually with sites. I like the forums though. Hope to see you around.

I love God and Obama too, and I'm pretty sure God loves me and Obama, and it could be a possibility that Obama loves me and God too!

What a trifecta of love, <333333333

  10. Well done! Yes, I failed. Same deal as last year, just too much to do, but I got about 20,000ish words done before the drinking really took off. At least I should be able to finish it by next Novemeber, haha.

    you a jerk.

Thats cause yous a crazy *****. jk
  12. Also, re. SAAS travel expenses - you can do it online and it's the single biggest scam opportunity on that website. I barely have to travel when I'm in Aberdeen, definitely costs me no more than £50 a year - yet I always get upwards of £400 from SAAS. Don't be scared to lie through your teeth to them. You NEED to get the subway from Central Station to Buchanan Street .
  13. I'm HeatherIAm, though I haven't uploaded my word count yet (around 9000, must get skates on!) and my profile is ancient too. You'll be my first friend!
  14. It's not James Watt College is it ? I went there. YEAH, DEBT! JAMES WATTERGATE! WOO! HNC Social Sciences, 2006-07. Good times indeed.

Anyway, the older universities - Aberdeen and upwards - seriously look down on HNC/Ds. They'll not let you in above first year even if you have an HND. They want people to stay in school, do their Highers, straight and narrow - it's retarded, but that's the way it is. Places like UWS and Dundee will let you into second or third year with your college qualification, but the snobby ones won't. Go figure. Bitch with that is if that SAAS are paying attention they'll make you pay your own tuition fees if you have an HND and end up going into university in first year.

I'm glad you'e enjoying it though. All my friends are in their Junior Honours now, and telling me how difficult and awful it will be. I think they're just jealous because my working week is 14 hours long and I get paid through the nose.
  15. Huh. I'm back in Aberdeen, and it turns out that I did miss Scotland. The banter, mostly. After a whole day (like 16 hours) spent travelling I found myself on the Edinburgh-Aberdeen late train and just felt at home. Two teenage girls were laughing, Fife accents, and there was a ridiculously drunk gay man who kept saying funny things of the variety that you just don't get anywhere else in Europe. It was the first part of my journey where I fell asleep without my backpack wrapped around my arm; I felt safe. Maybe that's what home is.

I heard that Griffin's appearance was a hoot. I look forward to watching it, because I can now. No iplayer in France, boo.

Also, how are you, ya big first year?

Officially speaking the last activity I had on these forums was in February 2015, five months ago. This activity coincided with a life changing event for me, in the form of a new job - the starting rung on a career - an opportunity as a designer at a AAA game studio, one which I won't name here to prevent any unfortunate paper trails - however I have a feeling a fair proportion of you already know. This exciting opportunity had the drawback of having to move to what is technically a different country

Winter Reflection

by Aerif on 12-27-2013 at 04:05 PM
It's becoming a habit of mine to take a relatively simple topic and stretch it out into several pages of writing that is of no interest to other people. This is why I will make an excellent academic.

Trailed thought. Let me start over.

It's becoming a habit of mine to take the time during the winter holidays to reflect upon the year that was, and unless I'm mistaken about my commitment to such a process this will be the seventh time I do so on TFF, to coincide with my eighth

[Hey pilgrims. Happy thanksgiving pilgrims.] Thoughts and prayers to those involved at Clutha.

by Aerif on 11-29-2013 at 06:01 PM
Well I guess it was yesterday. I did manage to say thanksgiving to an actual American though. He knows who he is.

Black Friday has always been a fascinating topic of conversation in the UK, since its slowly becoming an imported tradition. As far as I can tell Black Friday sales only began a few years ago - at least online - with Amazon selling Wiis and Xbox 360s for £50: a pretty amazing bargain even by today's standards.

This is the first year I've seen (or to better put

August. Fecking August was the last time I updated.

Of all people it was Loco who made me realise this by asking about my lack of logging into FFXIV. Presumably he is injured and has run out of people to contact.

Since my last posts, my situation has changed a fair bit. I live in the city now in the student accommodation I mentioned before, and am adjusting to life as a non-commuting student. Dundee, although small, is fairly pleasant.

Also they have this:

Ultros keeps getting hit by Thundaga

by Aerif on 08-25-2013 at 09:38 AM
One of the major benefits of Square Enix being a Japanese country is that all of the testing periods, and early access beginnings, and emergency down-period maintenance in Final Fantasy XIV have been happening at ideal times for European players. The Japanese 6pm start time has translated nicely into 10am start times in the UK.

For some strange reason however, the Early Access period which began yesterday morning has so far been afflicted by much more frequent downtime and maintenance
