Woah - a single Conservative representing Scotland! Crap, get the electionalance, the UK's going into democratic arrest! Yeh, that was lame. But still. I'm gonna keep on eye on news over in the old country. TFF needs some non-American political threads. I enjoyed how a team of UK people had to come to NZ to learn from our methods of forming coalition governments. I understand that it's an unusual situation there? Here, that's the norm. It'd be extraordinary to have an outright-majority government, and/or a cabinet established in less than a month. I was consistently confused by LibDem policies, mostly because I can't place them on the traditional political spectrum. I understand that they're pretty much centre-Left? Which I felt was strange, because Blair had already brought the Labour Party to the Centre.
Ironically the Conservative party is against electoral reform, yet the Liberal Democrats are for it. The only reason that David Cameron has managed to become Prime Minister is by forming a coalition with the LibDems. I think the Conservative parties opinion on electoral reform is that 'they will abstain from voting on the policy.'. I think the LibDems actually want MMP, although for mostly selfish reasons since they haven't been in power for nearly 100 years. I'm sure now that the Conservatives are in power most of Scotland will be supporting an MMP-like system. This might help clear things up. Anybody would probably agree that the Conservative/LibDem coalition has no right to work in Scotland, they're the 3rd and 4th most-voted for parties in the country. Reform is needed.
It really comes down to username and avatar. When Gypsy was new, had "Tenseikken Slash" (or something) for her username, and had a male for an avatar, I assumed she was male. Pretty rational thinking, given the amount of information we have. It's not that it should make a lick of difference, although I think I may have referred to you as 'she' once or twice. I wonder if I'll ever get it with new members and my current avatar. Depends if "Alpha" is seen as feminine, I suppose. Also, guts for the election (although I'm unclear on what happened In Scotland in particular). You guys REALLY need electoral reform. I read that you did a policy survey, and largely agreed with the Greens' policies. Awesome - me too! Thing is, here, voting for the Greens is not a wasted vote (well, it is for electorates, but not for Parliament), because we have an effective proportional system (MMP). The Greens got 7% (or was it more?) of the vote, and that share of the seats. There are calls to remove MMP for something more along the UK lines - and I can't get over the stupidity. While MMP does advantage minor parties, that's a good thing - so one doesn't have to vote for parties that they only somewhat agree with because their ideal parties wouldn't win enough votes.
It's fine, I get it all the time. I do it for the funsies! It's a good way to see how well someone knows me as well, which is of course made more difficult since I don't think I've ever revealed my gender in a thread. I'm like Andromeda and to a lesser stranger extent, Mistress Victoria.
I was just on the TFF page on Facebook. I had no idea you were a male 0.o Talk about internet androgyny (no offense intended).
Also I like how his wife suddenly became pregnant during the run up to the elections. Oddly convenient that.
Of course the funniest thing about him is how he rides a bike, yet has a driver follow him with his belongings. Travel fail.
Mr. Cameron is not a nice man. Neither are Conservatives, they're like British Americans. The bad kind.
I come back and my favourite avatar is gone... Alpha sad. Although you do now have my favourite signature. You have to lose something to find something, I suppose.
I was just talking to my friend who came back from a year in Europe (England mainly) yesterday. He said it's cold like he's never known cold. Considering I've only been in snow once in my life, that's not hard. I'd have to climb a mountain just to get some. I like when Santa suits get modified to shorts, vests and jandals. Sort of like this guy: Hah, take that page! Fill with pictures!
To be fair, a cold Christamas isn't worth it unless there is snow. However this year as you can probably guess from Eurostar there's a very good chance that we'll have a white Christmas! Although the people dressed in Santa outfits must be absolutely roasting! The Santa suits here are all padded so the poor guys must be trying not to suffer heat stroke or something. The fake snow on windows is really... American... I've watched enough Christmas films with the stark contrasts of both coasts, with the East Coast needing no need to fake it and the West Coast just looking silly. And snow, especially everywhere but Scotland is disastorous!
But everything 'Christmassy' is imported from the Northern Hemisphere. So we get fake snow on windows, roast meals, Santa outfits, etc., which doesn't look right to me. I've always wanted a cold Christmas, as it would just make sense, what with stockings over the fireplace and stuff. This is what I associate with Christmas:
I just realised that you get a sunny-summery Christmas. Words cannot describe how much of a mind-**** that is to me considering the sun is a myth in Scotland.
I really can't tell you why it is awesome. It just is. Much like gravity.
It's actually from the 'sequel' I'm developing for FFVII. It's good that it reminds you of Aeris, because in a way it's supposed to be subtly like her.
