Credit card.
It's the only option offered by the PlayOnline service, which is something they're doing away with for FFXIV. (I'm assuming they might open up to credit as well as time cards.)
What method do you other FF XI players use to pay for playing? How many ways are there to pay to play? What is the best way?

That is a bit of bad news for me,because all I have is a debit card. I better look into finding another payment option then.

And then just like that i'm gone again.
If your debt card doubles as a credit card as well, then that will work. If you see like Visa or Mastercard or something like that on your debt card then it will work just like a credit card. Because I use my bank card which is a debt/credit card type of thing.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

Thank you for posting that,Andromeda. You have given me hope.
Glad to help. People usually forget that about bank cards so it gets overlooked. I find it nice since I'm not charging it to a credit card, its just my bank account. ^^ Well hope it works out for you, its a fun game.

As far as I'm aware you can get XI for xbox in the UK - was just wondering how much it is monthly/annually, I was thinking of getting it :|
Wishes aren't enough, prayers either ... I'm making a promise ...
You shouldn't have to pay for it!
xTidus: "What are you doing?"
ViviMasterMage: "I'm eating your hair... Why?"
xTidus: "You have problems..."
ViviMasterMage: "You smell nice!...I do have problems!"
Both: *giggles*
if you pay for xbox live anyway, you shouldnt have to pay for it :|

Or, "I pay for internet service, XBL and all MMOs should be free" - people wouldn't be able to run their services if that were the case. Or... they'd all be very very very very ad-laden.

What do ya mean free?
Pay for one card and don't have to pay monthly again and still play everything?
Can you get a silver membership for the ps2/pc version ?
Unless your PS2 is the big giant one with a Hard Drive you aint playing it on the PS2. But for the PC you just need internet access no need for xbox crap.

Silver membership is the default free version of an XBOX Live membership. It allows you to go online with certain games (Such as FFXI) and download updates for your XBOX and games via the internet, as well as use the messenger service.
However, to use things on the 360 such as the Netflix service, or a majority of games online, you have to pay $7/mo for XBOX Live Gold.
XBOX Live Gold in no way has any affiliation with the monthly cost of playing FFXI. So if you do have an XBOX Live gold membership, you still have to pay subscription fees for FFXI, but as previously stated the free XBOX Live service, Silver level membership, still allows you to play FFXI assuming you're paying the monthly fee to POL.
Unlike WoW, to the best of my knowledge, POL (Play Online, the online service used by Square Enix for FFXI) does not sell time cards in-stores, the only way to pay for the game is via credit card. No matter which platform you play it on, you must pay a monthly fee.
