    Is SAW worth seeing?

These movies appear to be horribly Americanized... That isn't always a bad thing, but I link it to mediocre acting and overly-dramatized storylines consisting of utter tripe. I have done my research on this movie nonetheless and it seems... Interesting.

I am unsure of the storylines, but I try my hand at many different types of horror movie; psychological, slasher, torturous, etc, so I was surprised when I realised I had seen none of these popular movies.

What kind of horror movie are these? I always got the impression they were just thick buckets of blood and gore... and if that's so, that's okay by me. I'd just like to know whether these movies are worth seeing or not.

Well, I know that SAW is a psychological torture series. You can see it if you want to, I just know that I'm not going to.
Yes, it is interesting, but I don't think I've heard of the original that SAW is based off of.

You might like it.. I absolutely hate that series. Everyone raves about how good it is, but I don't see why. I remember when I watched the first one in the theaters, everyone laughed at the end, thinking the acting was lame. I just don't understand what's that great about.. I've seen way better..

Chez, over the years we have disagreed on many things. But I am warning you, as a human being to another, do not waste your time on the torture porn that is Saw.

    I sort of agree.
I like to watch what we'd call 'decent' cinema... SAW is about as far removed from 'decent' cinema as you could possibly get.. So it falls into that category of being so unbelievably awful it deserves watching... Kind of.

I thought the plot was terribly clever. The gore was overdone, sadly. But it had a very intriguing villain.
I'd watch, if I were you.

SAW is a great series, I really enjoyed it. The plot is extremely clever. For a gory horror film it's more of an emotional series than a physical one. This is one of those movies were you either like it or you don't. I, in particular loved it. You should definitely give it a shot.

I think that the movie is great, the second explains a bit more of the story, the third starts pushing it and the forth is just too much.
I can still watch the first one and second but the others just don't grab my attention as much. So what I'm saying is that the series as a whole is not that good, but you should really watch the first ones.

I avoided this film for so long until a friend loaned it to me. I watched it a few days ago and I was quite impressed. I was expecting another stupid slasher flick, and was pleasantly surprised to be presented with quite an original narrative that had me fascinated. I did not guess the ending, though I tried, because it was so well written and edited.

SAW is a great thriller. It's nothing like the other thrillers I've seen. It makes you think about life. and really appreciate that you are still alive!

I enjoyed it and was entertained a lot.

SAW is great! Definatly a psychological torture series - really sick minded, and gory... although i have to admit, its over gory, and the acting can be pretty OTT and stupid at times, but still...

Its the type of film you NEED to pay attension to to understand it - i had lost the plot on the third film, but after watching them all again, i understood it... maybe its cos there is a big gap of time between the films, lol - you start to forget after a while!

It is a really good if you like squirmish films, - and impressive if you can remember what has happened in the previous films!

I think my step-dad said that they are gonna make them all the way up to SAW 6-8... maybe not a great move, but i look forward to seeing them!

Lightbulb I'm On The Yes Side

Yes you should see SAW. I watched the first three but never got to the fourth. The first is so good, it shows off itself, the second brings you into the storyline more, and the third to me is just gruesome(but in a enjoyable way). The ripped body parts and the tortureous plots might throw your eyes off the screen through a couple scenes, but the SAW series are really something you can lay yo mind on. Not to mention that the villan is just genius and cruel.

Saw 1, yes that's a pretty good movie. I thought it was meh when I first saw it but liked it more when I saw it again. I think it's a good weird legit type movie. Unlike all the sequals.

Yeah I quite liked saw 1. I think its worth watching even if you dont particularly like gore movies. The rest however....

Saw 1 had a point and made it well.

Saw 2 tried to make a point and almost succeded.

Saw 3 is just a bunch of gore...

    Saw 4 is....wait....theres a Saw 4?!!! They're still making these...

I would say that you definatly have to just go and watch the movie and make up your own mind wheter or not you are going to watch the next three
it is a movie that you just had to see once

If you really want to understand what happens in the series, watch the Fourth one first, because it has a lot of prelude stuff that happens before the first one and everything, plus it has a really good storyline, much better than the other three. If you are satisfied after SAW IV, then see the first three in that order.

The Saw series is amazing. It is not a soft porn that's Hostel. Saw uses clever dialogue and clever plot. The story grows more complex and interesting with each installment. Saw 4 was the best for a certain reason I shall keep secret in case any plan to watch. I'll say that when my friends and I saw Saw IV we couldn't believe what they did it was amazing. Saw V did not go beyond Saw IV but still a good addition and am eagerly awaiting for Saw VI.

    Main series FFs Beaten - FF: 4x, FFII: 3x, FFIII: 3x, FFIV: 3x, FFV: 3x, FFVI: 4x, FFVII: 5x, FFVIII: 5x, FFIX: 3x, FFX: 4x, FFXII: 3x, FFXIII: 2x, FFXV: 2x

The first SAW film, is amazing. I loved it. In my top ten, no doubt. However, the others are unwatchable crap.

I don't get why they needed to make more SAW films past the first one (apart from money). The first did not need any sequals, because it ended perfectly to be a stand alone movie.

Overall, watch the first one, ditch the other lot.

I like saw but i think that they are starting to get pointless now. it is just basically just blood and gore now and there is no main story to it. I liked the orginal saw because it had a great story line and the action scene were also good

At the end of the day, it comes down to one hero to save us all.

In my general opinion, I think they are just a load of bull.

Granted they play with your mind and keep you thinking, but most of us don't want to think while watching a movie. We want our brain to melt at the awesomeness that is the movie. Okay, at least most of the general community wants their brains to do that.

All in all, I thought they were horrible. From the time they started to where they end I say, "Please, don't make us sit through another SAW movie or the brains of millions will explode and cause hundreds of dollars of government issues."
    At least that just me.

Whats wrong with a movie that will make you think? The general public is stupid these days. I think that movies that make you think are some of the best ones out there. Suspense/Action movies like Fight Club, Se7en and Requiem for a Dream are good examples of "thinkers" I guess you would say. I go to the movies to see good movies. Not turn my brain off for a couple of hours.

Being a film major, I kind of know how it is to make a budget film because I have worked on a lot of local shorts, commercials and one feature length where I live. Saw is a great example of that. Acting aside (they could only shoot most scenes in one take and that's pretty hard), its a pretty good movie. There's nothing really wrong with the first two Saw movies. After the third one, the series begins a downward slide from there. It starts to feel like a rehash of the previous movies trying to "top" the gore of the last one.

To sum up, I would say see the first two. If you like them, just continue on to the other ones to see what happens in the story.
