I REALLY liked the first one, but the second one just didn't catch my attention. I mean, in the first one, I dumped a couple times, but there was no suspensein the second one at ALL!
1st one = really good
2nd one = really bad
There.
THEY ARE TEH AWESOME!!!! \m/
Well, they are ok but not THAT good....
Mediocre
THEY BLOODY SUCK, a disgrace for the games!!!
Never seen 'em...
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, time for another one of my boring polls and don't yell out "NOOOOOOO!!" while tearing your hair off your head in boredom
I am curious about how this poll will turn out because of the many different opinions I have heard about both movies, personally I like them both very much and Apocalypse has clips from the first game.
So MAY THE POLLI....errr VOTING BEGIN!!!
Oh BTW, also comment on the movies, which was your fav, why, why they suck (if you think they do) and etc. etc. etc.....

There should've been a "decent, good watch" option.
I enjoyed the first movie. I have it in my bedroom somewhere. I like the first one a lot, despite, like the games, lack of much storyline.
Apocalpse was okay, but it didn't meet the first films' standards.
The main reason I watched the second, was because I like Jovovich, as you can see. And because I'm a horror fan. I was expecting something better. If they make a third, I think it'll be pretty shitty.
If anyone remembers the end of Apocalpse...
Oh yeah, and Jill was hot. Just thought I'd add that. Ahem.

*Hmmm I must say I was disappointed with the way zombies looked the game zombies looked more juicy and more flesh hungry.but other than that Id give the movie an 8 out of 10 rating.I was hoping to see the first game Resident evil zero where Gil and Chris venture into the mansion but no they had to invent another story.I suspect the movie director didnt follow the original game story and did his own version!grrr
*Well basically the reason why I watched the movie is because like all the others I wanted to see zombies!YEAH and more zombies getting their heads blown off!hehehe I think If your looking for those kind of elements youd have to watch Land of the Dead of any other George Romero Zombie films!bwahaha!
***HALLER BACK!!!***
I prefered the first one, it wasn't scary but it maintained the notion of being 'trapped'.
It had more character moments in aswell, they are present in the 2nd one, but are kinda crap.
The only bit I really liked in Apocolyspe was the dogs and Nikolia.
Yes the second was a bit dissapointing and you say "why the hell did you (I) use TEH AWESOME option in the poll???"Originally Posted by Chez
That is because they hardly had any funds at all when making both movies, in fact they doubted that there would be a second, and it sure as zombies are bloodthirsty wont be a third.
Thinking about how small their funds was the movies is excellent, the first paid for the second, there was no other support for the film crew, they had to do it with their revenue from that movie.
Are there anybody who don't know what I am talking about, I advice you to see the making of Resident Evil, their solutions when making the movie is great and even the actors came up with stuff like the heat wave to save money, they really really should have been granted a bigger budget.
If they where to make a thrid one I hope it will: a) continue on the story and either be the movie of RE 4 or pick up after that game or b) as Simply"Kit" belived the first movie would be based on the mansion in Zero.
(Which just have been released for DS I think)
Well I think they are good but not fantastic. I have seen many other series of films that are so much better. And I have watched much better horror films. But they are good films though...no doubt.

My TFF Family:
In my opinion they are good in they're own way seperate from the games.
The second one followed closly but the way it had different games put into the movie was really annoying. But i still think they are awesome so i voted the first.

My opinion is that I did not like either one of them. They made the movies look very bad. I was dissapointed at the story line, and the movie was actually not even remotely as scary as the game was. This is only my opinion, but I thought it was the worst rendition to a game I have ever seen. Almost as bad as when Advent chilcren made Tifa look like a guy. It was just that bad for me. Not scary, and the plot was terrible. I don't know what else to say. I am just saddened enough to say that I actually watched the second one in hopes it would get better
the resident evil movies are on my top ten.the movies almost have nothing to do with the games, that,s the part thet sucksOriginally Posted by darkViVi
I think that movies made after video games are cursed. Some are okay, many almost watchable, however none of them ever live up to the expectations. I watched both Resident evil films and felt that they were decent but no where near the actual games. I mean if I were to see the movie first I would have thought well those games must be kind of stupid. Most movies made after video games seem that way to me though.
I have never seen any of the Resident Evil movies or played any of the games... My friends have been saying many good things about it though. If only I had the time to see it...
I thought the first one was made very well and focused more on teh story while the second one seemed to focus more on action and the scenes just didn't seem to come together as well. I think the way he ended the second one was really neat and make the third one show a lot of potential when it comes out. Overall I really enjoyed the films and have always been a big fan of the games.

Resident evil has a brilliant story line to it. The characters are also brilliant and the plot is just ace!
Thats what I thnk on the game. The movie just sucks ass! They completly ruined resident evil for me with these movies. The game and original stroy rules, but the movie needs to die...or at lest be remade.
Just me.
I'm not a real big fan of the movies, there ok (in a bad way) but they don't stand up to the games, not at all. So personally I think that the movies rather insult the games, I mean the stroy writers and director were not true to the game at all, they like totally maipulated it into their own creation.
I thought the movies were wonderful now I know they did not compare to the games and I'm ok with that after all hollywood must have some creative leaway after all.....would you really be happy with a movie based on a game you had already seen the story line to by beating the game...anyway there you have it
I liked both of the movies. Milla is the reason why I watch them besides the fact that I like RE though. One of my favorite actresses, but I liked the seconde one better then the first. Only because Jill was in there, but the first one had better deaths then the second one though.

Like pretty much everyone else here I liked the first one better than the second. But in my opinion they were not fantastic movies. They were released when you had things like 28 Days Later coming out and Zombie/Disease movies were the big fad. Just seemed like bad timing to me. Plus zombies don't really scare me so I didn't have high hopes for a fearful experience. I was mainly just wanting to see it cuz I hadn't been into the games much and it looked interesting, which it was. I'd watch them again, but not if I had to pay money.
Truthfully I don't really care for the whole let's make movies from games thing because a lot of times a lot of people haven't played the games so they don't get the full effect. I mean these were pretty cool, you didn't really have to know a lot about the games to get it, but yeah.

Lethal mah homie!
Some game to movie ideas have been good ones. I'm a die-hard Silent Hill fan, and I think they did some great work on Silent Hill.
Now, I hated Final Fantasy: Advent Children and wasn't greatly keen on Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, either.
To be honest, most game to movies' are really not that great, but I'd hate for Christophe Gans to just stop in the making of a possible Silent Hill 2 movie.
I think Resident Evil have gotten all they can out of the movie aspect. They had a good idea, but portrayed in a so-so way.
If they hadn't made Alice so "super-human", the film would have probably been a LOT better.
And we all saw the cheesy CGI of that licker monster in Resident Evil 1... I'm going to show that to my children one day, and they'll laugh at it a lot.
And that's what leads me onto the fact that Resident Evil, when it comes down to it, was never really that scary movie-wise. Like, even at the time it was released, the CGI didn't even look good then. My parents are always seeing films and saying "oh, this old film used to be scary back then!" ... Resident Evil wasn't even scary for when it was released.
Sad duck, am I.
In any case... Silent Hill movie > Resident Evil movies.
'Nuff said.
PS; Nemesis was gay.

damn.. i am having the hardest time in the world remembering resident evil 1.. shitty.. but i loved teh second one much more than the first.. i felt it had a better story, more likable characters., more action, and jill valentine was sexier than alice.. period.. they have a third one scheduled to be out this year.. i will probably see it...
Resident evil is cool.. but i really like most is the 1st one because it is more scarry than the second one...
i love resident evil cept ive only seen the 1st cant find the second anywhere but 1st was good >.<
im too lazy to read through all of the garbage in this thread im just gonna say, the first movie wa sa dece film as a action movie, but a horrible zombie movie, and even worse gama adaptation. they might as well called it milla jovanich versus zombies. the second film was an even bigger peice of shit, paul ws anderson is a horrible writer. i will admit apocalypse had its moments. but past that it was shite and screwed the story arund even more.
The 3rd movie is already almost done filming or is almost in post production by now.
it's being hailed as road warrior with zombies, its set in the desert 2-3 years after the 2nd movie, jill will not be in for long, claire will be replacing her in it. One of the games most famous monsters will be makin an appearence more than likely the tyrant, aswell as hunters, and WESKER, and chris redfeild (apparently
and it's reumored that this zombie roadtrip will wind up in alaska, and it will set up for the 4th installment a CODE VERONICA adaptation..
frankyl i think thi movie will prolly suck.
but ive seen some vids on youtube, there will be alot of zombies from what it shows, a crow attack, and some other goodies. so it might not all be a bust..but if done right the 4th installment will have the chance to turn the movie franchise around.

An article from cinemablend.com in regards to the third installment of the Resident Evil movie. I thought the first film did a pretty good job in portraying the idea behind the film/game to new viewers, however it started to get corny sometimes, even though the zombies were pretty well thought out.The third and final installment of the $100 million RESIDENT EVIL hits, RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION is again based on the wildly popular video game series and picks up where the last film left off. Alice (MILLA JOVOVICH), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera (ODED FEHR) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke ) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead…and to seek justice. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive.

... Wow, talk about picking the most Hollywood people they could find.Ali Larter. Ashanti.
The movie is ruined thanks to the two names I quoted.
It doesn't get more stereo-type than feeling you have to pick out massively famous people in an already massively famous film to go ahead and ruin it. Wow, I'm so not seeing Resident Evil 3 now.
._.
Oh yeah, and Alice is beginning to suck now, with all of her shitty powers. Superman sucked, now Resident Evil sucks.
You suck now, Resident Evil movie maker people.

I'm not going to let the cast list get to me just yet because it could change. Hopefully it changes. They're really taking Resident Evil a bit too far and turning it into more of an action series, which sucks. I guess it's cool that at least it's better than House of the Dead. That movie was just a joke.
I don't know. I think they need to get a different director in there. New writers wouldn't hurt, either. Clearly the writers for the third installment know nothing about the Resident Evil series...

Even though I have both RE films on DVD, I've only seen the first one. When I get a chance, I'll be able to watch both films before the third come out later this year.
