Not necessarily. It depends on how the remake is done and also on how the original has aged. Case and point: Battlestar Galactica. The original series is just plain campy by today's standards (and perhaps even by the standards in which it was made). The new series, on the other hand, is phenomenal. Granted, the new series greatly departed from the original, which no doubt ruffled the feathers of some fans of the original, but honestly I think it's better that it did.Originally Posted by Block
Remakes are always hit and miss, but I think claiming in an absolute sense that originals are always better is just an excuse for elitism. "I was a fan before the remake" and other such elitist tropes. I'm guilty of these things, I'll readily admit, but really, in the end it comes down to the same things as making an original creation: is the directing/acting/writing/story good?
