Without a doubt, Gimly and Legolas.... the way they talk to eachother during battle.... countin off the kills.... reminds me of a few D&D games I've been in... good times....

Great movies, even better books... by far one of the best fantasy series ever written.
    It's ok.... I know I still rock...

If anyone has read the books they would be able to see how flawed peter jacksons interpretations were on the whole series...

He destroyed the lotr name man utterly destroyed it...
From the very start of the fellow ship..It starts spiraling downwards until it dies when they never meet or even mention Tom bombadil...

those movies where made for teenage girls to spend their allowance at...

P.s. i was in to the whole series including the hobbit before it was cool....

    Boycott that fatasses horrible movies

I never said the movies were accurate, just that they were great... great effects, a great interpretation... but never once did I say they were accurate... I will not say anymore cause I still get in this same argument with my grandmother's husband.

Actually the films where great for what they where. Yes they are not the same as the books (I have currently read the books 11 times so I know what I am talking about) but as far as film interpritation versus time constraints I beleve they did the best they could for the time they where alloted. I don't see where any injustices where made. If you want to see a movie that is almost exactly like the book go watch braveheart its was about 130 pages converted to a 3 hour movie.

well, in the 2nd book, Arwen shows up in that fight to help Aragorn and the others (my sister told me) but peter jackson didn't do it, 'cause he wanted that Aragorn and Arwen see eachother and kiss like it passed 1000 years since they're last visit or something, at the end of the movie(not actually at the end of the movie but, when Aragorn is becoming a king and stuff..)

I thought they were cool. I enjoyed watching them. Well, I did when I saw them, anyway. I don't care if they were not accurate with regards to the books. In fact, I can't blame them for not being accurate. They wanted to make a movie that people will be entertained by. Keep it accurate to the books and you'll end up with every movie being like 5 hours long (isn't the extended version of the last one nearly that long anyway?) showing lots of walking, eating and sleeping and meeting up with characters who don't end up serving a purpose or driving the plot along. A movie is not the same as a book, and people don't watch movies for the same reasons they would read a book. Well, not the general public anyway, and that's who they are after when it comes to the box office.

My favourite character might be Grima Wormtongue. He's just such a weird little freak - he's almost Gollum, minus loincloth, plus face-withering linguistic powers.

The Lord of the Rings never really interested me. I mean, it's three movies of nearly four hours of walking sequences. It gets old after the first twenty five minutes.

What really ticked me off, though, were the endings of the third film. It was like a never ending amount of endings. It was ridiculous.

They didn't even show what happened after they went home (the hobbits) and had to have a battle to get the Shire back from "Sharkey". Anyone who has read the series will know who that is. By the way have you read the Silmilrilion?

I adored them certainly up there in my top favourite films. Anyway they did miss out a whole lot from the books but they seemed to rectify that a little by bringing out the extended. Either way some of my favourite bits from the book were missed out in the film but that didn't really harm the greatness of the trilogy. The characters were well casted (apart from a handful) and the monsters were pretty damned close to being perfect, my only argument was that the Worgs are more intelligent than they were portrayed in the films XP

My favourite will always be Fellowship of the Ring because of my pure excitement when I first saw it. Yes the battles were better in the second and third, but the first had the clean air of a new adventure where things were bad but not too bad until the end XD

But yes I did love the trilogy! Oh and my favourite character was Aragon (Strider). Vigo's performance was outstanding and Strider had the most character development through out the film. He was just amazing towards the end.

*Is looking forward to see what Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Torro make of the Hobbit =D*

I absolutely loved the Lord of the Rings films, they were made well and I love the acting. I never read the books, I tried too but I got bored. I was about 15 at the time mind you so perhaps I should give it another go. My Mum and brother adore this series as well, both of them read the books. We have the extended versions of all three films and they are the best, they amaze me.

I went to see a marathon of all three movies one night, with my brother. It took about nine hours! I actually stayed awake the whole night which shocked me very much.

Wow people here seem to dislike them, oh well. It's too bad they have bad taste in films.

Ive always wanted to see the extended versions. Are they much longer? The extended 'the strangers" movie was only a 3 minute difference and it was jsut the end. So I'm not sure how the Lotr ones are.If tehya re a good amount longer then maybe i'll consider getting them and been thinking of getting the 2nd ne on dvd,i have it on vhs but i have the first and last on dvd lol..

the extened versions are great, they add a little more to the story and also add some of what was left out of the books, still no Tom Bambadil though. But over all it adds more then just a few minutes to each film and they are deffinantly worth checking out.

    LOTR is freaking awsome!!!!!!

Im preety much a LOTR nerd. i own the book, the hobbit, and all three extended versions of which i have watched all of them through at least several times and all of them with cast commentry and director writers commentry. Some people don't like to do that but i found it quite interesting like Vigo broke his toe in one of the scenes and they kept it in the movies because the scream was just awsome or somthing like that.

    erhem

anyway LOTR was a great movie, yes not true to the book but in order to keep the story flowing somethings had to be left out (yes sadly characters like Tom Bambadil) otherwise the movies would just be way too long i mean i can handle sitting in a cinema for for gours no worries but to sit in a cinema for like 5-6 hours thats going to make my arse go numb.

I'm not much of a fan in these movies but yes, I liked them.
Everything's ok for me but I dont like all fantasy and action. At least a little comedy would've done nicely. But it was all to serious for all I remember.
Heck, how should I know, I watched to many years ago so it was all a blurr for me.
But the third one, Return of the King, was nice.

I thought the first one had the most comedy. They did get serious with the 2nd and third but the first one had more comedy in the beginning with pip and the fireworks and all that jazz. I love the beginning to the first one its soo funny! LOL

But still, liked the third one more. I watched them when I wasnt even a high-skooler. So I shouldnt have the right to say this? Hmm.. If I have the time maybe I could watch it once more just in case xD

Hehe. I just think the farther you go into the story it does get more serious. Its like that with alot of movies and books. The third one was deffinately the best one. Alot of people liked the 3rd one better too. I dont know why but it just seemed better and more mystical.
