Of all the Discovery/History channel reality shows, The Deadliest Catch was one of the first and in my opinion, the best. I've been watching this for about as long as it's been running. Something about it just draws me in every time.
So, anyone else watch this show and if so, what's your favorite boat/captain/episode/whatever?
My favorite boat is the Northwestern, and accordingly, Sig's my favorite captain. Something about those crazy Norwegians I guess haha.
Yes, there is a DC marathon running right now. >.>;

Sig is everyone's favorite. But I have to admit to secretly rooting for the Northwestern. Even though I also like Phil. Shame what's happened to him. =/
I'm an avid fair-weather watcher. If it's on, I'll watch it. Wish it came on more frequently...but anyway. You may count me as a fan.

Well, the closer we get to the start of the new season the more they'll be showing old ones, mostly last season. They tend to favor marathons, heh. Which is just fine with me. Even when I've seen all the episodes I'll still put it on as background to whatever else I'm doing at the time.
Phil's very lucky the clot didn't kill him when he was on the boat. Hopefully he'll be good to come back but honestly it just doesn't seem too likely, not with the way he is when he's fishing. (The mere thought of all that Red Bull makes me queasy, blech.)

Yea, well when you sit in the same relative position for hours on end, eat, smoke, and shotgun red bulls...blood clots shouldn't come as a surprise. They would be another occupational hazard. But hopefully he'll be doing well and the others can take over for him. If he went back to captain, he'd just be making the same mistake over again.

yeh i saw that episode!!! That guy went through shite loads of Red Bull.
My mate told me the other day that Taurine in energy drinks can give you a heart attack at any given time i don't know if thats true but hey if it is DAMN!!
Still haven't got a favorite captain yet though but we'll see.

i watch this a little bit i've seen about five to seven episodes of deadliest catch and my favorite crew out of the several episodes i've seen are time bandit
deadliest catch is on my top three favorites i've never really watched the discovery channel until my dad got me into mythbusters first about four years ago then dirty jobs around the same time then i started watching the discovery channel all the time then when i saw deadliest catch i started to watch it a little when nothing else was on the discovery channel; these are the only three things i watch on the discovery channel
I watch most of the shows that come on discovery channel. Shows like Dirty Job's, Bear Grylls. The deadliest Catch is alright, but it isn't something I watch all the time. It is strange I watch the discovery channel alot but when it comes on I always see what else is on...
I have sad news to report. Captain Phil Harris has passed away after suffering a massive stroke while docked in the middle of Opilio season a few days ago. Fair winds and calm seas, Captain.

I heard about that, very sad. I actually got into it a couple days ago. I never really enjoyed it cause I didn't try to pay attention, then when I start liking it he dies. It is always horrible news when someone dies...
It's a sad thing and it won't be the same without him. I feel sorry for his kids. It's a hard living to earn and even if you do it well and come home with all your fingers and toes, it apparently still does it's damage. Bye Captain, you will be missed.
