    Batman Begins: The Dark Knight

    http://www.worstpreviews.com/headlin...d=6703&count=0

Empire Online is slowly revealing a brand new shot of The Joker from the upcoming "The Dark Knight" film. The entire process will take three days, with four out of the nine total pieces already revealed. Judging by what I can see, the image cannot be anything but The Joker, since earlier leaking photos show him wearing the same purple pants and multi-colored socks.

    http://www.worstpreviews.com/review.php?id=141

Plot Summary: The follow-up to the action hit "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight" reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne. In the new film, Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.

I hope to see this on DVD.

I think the difference between Nolan's versions of Batman and Tim Burton's films is that Nolan creates a much darker and gritty atmosphere compared to what we've seen in the past. I mean Tim Burton's films were more comic book-like than compared to this new series of Batman movies. Given there were certain dark elements to it, Nolan is taking a completely serious approach to the franchise and this new Joker is probably the result of that. The Joker himself has been portrayed as pretty much two different people; the sarcastic psychopath that likes to play around such as the version in the 90's Batman cartoon and then there was the cold-blooded murderer who has a dark humor that isn't like what some people are use too. In this case it's the latter with Nolan's movie and the look they've given him is much more ugly and gritty as I said.

Now, honestly I'm more use to what everybody is use to, the funny Joker like that in the comics or cartoons. I have my own doubts about this movie, but seeing as I really liked the first I'm kind of glad Nolan has pulled away from JUST the comic-book feel and focusing on the darker elements on hand. If the same had been done to the Spawn movie instead of the popcorn film there is now then it would've been a lot better. I think that's what plagues comic-book adaptations in general because people want to see a more realistic perspective to the comic than just the typical stuff you saw for kids. It's sort of like how I went from Saturday morning cartoons to anime because there are more of it that's much deeper than a hero saving the day and some villain who escapes jail every week. The more adult theme to it appeals to me and other people.

I'm jazzed to see this when it comes out. I love Batman from 89 with Keaton and I also love Batman Returns, both very weird and dark, yet they had a sense of style. This new ones trying to show a realistic side of how all things could happen which I respect. Plus Keaton was a small to normal size guy. Bale is a big guy who's jacked and fits Wayne's build. I figure this should be a wonderful movie especially with the Joker seeing as he's the true arch enemy of Batman.

Harvey Dent? WOAH. Nice to see him getting a MUCH better treatment than the crappy movie with The Riddler and Two-Face. From what I understand about treatments of Harvey Dent/Two-Face, he was one of the characters that benefitted from the make-over from the non-titled Batman series. He was far better as a tragic figure torn between the double-life tearing his life and sanity apart and the one person he could love. It's nicer than

Batman: "Whoops, I spilled coffee on you."

Dent: "I'm gonna kill you! Call me two-face!!"

...yeah, and as for the make-over of The Joker, much better than the one who danced to Prince/the fag formerly known as Prince. THANK YOU NOLAN.
I stopped seeking to be sought after. That wasn't being true to myself.

Nerco-posting. I know. So sue me. But it's coming out over here this week. And instead of making a new thread, we have this thread!

I can't wait till this weekend to see it. I'm not going on opening night but either Saturday or Sunday I'm going to see it. I've seen the trailers and it does look really good. It's sad in a way because I was hearing a while back that Heath Ledger's role as 'The Joker' could be Oscar nominated.

I am excited to watch this. I have a free private screening at one of the new casinos here in Vegas. (Working part time at Best Buy does have it's benefits) Comes with free food and information from Intel. And to top it all off, I'm not driving!

I hope it's good, it looks good I guess, and everyone's saying it's good...So hopefully the fight scenes aren't as sloppy as they were in Begins...I haven't really checked out the trailers in much detail, so idk....Also, I know it's unavoidable w/such a huge franchise, but all the (tons & tons & TONS of) cross-promotion stuff makes me sick (hope none of it manages to spill over into the actual movie...I don't need to see Bruce Wayne eating a goddamn Big Mac or something similarly lame...>_>)...

Its gonna be good, Christian Bale's in all the movies I like (no, not because he's in them, but because they have his brilliant acting and approval of story lines).

This was by far the best movie I've seen in years. I won't give anything away, but some crazy shit goes down, in some of the most original ways I've seen in a long while. Heath Ledger is absolutely stunning as the Joker; brilliant in every conceivable way. It's a shame that he died so young. Eckhart as Harvey Dent was also amazing.

All I can really say is go see this movie, NOW. Get advance tickets too, cause I know in NYC almost every showing is sold out.

I'd take Pete's word for it considering he doesn't praise a whole lot of things here at TFF, lol. Either way, I suspected this kind of thing with an epicness feel to it through the trailers. Batman Begins was great, though had a few issues that I could overlook. With a bigger budget and interesting cast, this sequel looks like it's gonna give even a klingon a woody.

I'll try and see it tomorrow since we have an IMAX over here. HAIL THE DARK KNIGHT!

I just got back from seeing it, and it was the greatest film that I have ever seen. It's strange. See, I live near a very large movie theater. The parking lot is huge, considering how many people this place can accommodate. The parking lot was completely full, which was a first, and everybody was there to see the Dark Knight. There were about nine sold out shows, and about six other shows that weren't scheduled, to accommodate the other people who wanted to see the film. They, too, by the time my show was over, were all sold out as well. If it's like this all over the country, then this movie is going to make a hell of a lot of money.

I just got back from it.

    It. Was. Better. Than. Great.

Just in case people don't want to know anything about the movie before going into it, I put a little SPOIL thing around the text. It won't spoil the movie, though.

    Spoiler:
The Joker was much more sadistic and crazy than in the comic book and older movies. The portrayal of Joker was just great. Two-Face was great, as well. I loved his methods of going about killing.

I'll just say that much. I wouldn't want to spoil anything about the movie now.

I've not really been a Batman fan, though I have got to see this new one thats coming out. Not because Heath Ledger is in it, though that is one of my reasons, but because I heard that his performace as The Joker is going to be the best Joker ever.

I must admitt, the makeup is something from a nightmare, and Heath Ledgers' acting is so fantastic, and amazing, this Joker... Wow, can't think of a word... O_O

I love the way The Joker has been made even more of a... psyco creep with the smudged make-up and the way make-up artists have made it look like Heath's mouth has been split open. I mean, my avi totally creeped me out when I first saw it lol!

I'm never going to a carnival ever again.

I saw it this afternoon. Words cannot accurately describe how chilling Ledger's Joker is. The voice, the actions, even his behaviors/mannerisms were just phenomenal. For the first time in my memory, a fictional character well and truly scared me.

    "How about a magic trick?"

I don't usually like superhero films, but TDK isn't about heroes, really. That's the fantastic thing about it, in my opinion. Drives home all aspects of the human element, often in a devastatingly real way. I have not seen a movie this good in a very long time, and probably won't again for some time.

It was a great movie, for sure, but I have to say, I have never seen a more overrated movie in existence. People built this movie up higher than it should have been, for reasons I really don't understand. Ledger's performance was excellent and the plot was well thought out and interesting, but it is not even close to the greatest movie ever made, sorry.

However, Ledger deserves an Oscar for that. And not just because he's dead.

    Until now!

I completly agree that heath ledger deserves an oscar for TDK, he made a fantastic joker.

I didnt like the 1st part of the film, i found it a lil bit slow and enough action, but it picked up and i loved it, and i didnt think i would even like it that much.

Negative rep for my last post: "It's not overrated."

And there's your proof that it is overrated. The stupider and more obstinate the fanboys are, the more overrated the source is. It's a mathematical law.

Let's hope this doesn't turn into the movie version of FF7.

    Until now!

How can you guys say Oscar? 7 of the 12 months in this Oscar year have passed, and the best movies come out in the winter. This is jumping the gun.

With that said, this may be the most overrated movie of all time. It was good, but wow. Number 1 on imdb?

Quoted for truth, yo. People talk about this film like Jesus shit it out and said, "Here. What? It's a gift. Trust me. You'll like it" It was a good movie. Probably the best movie I've seen all year. I don't know, though. I haven't seen Mamma Mia! yet.

Yes, Heath Ledger was great. I think I may have liked Aaron Eckhart better though. Then again, I've always liked Two-Face better than the Joker, and seeing Aaron Eckhart do a great job more than offset the Tommy Lee Jones' part in Batman Sucks Forever. Oh, and Christian Bale needs to learn how to be a consistent actor. He's great as Bruce Wayne, but then when he turns into Batman, he overacts so much he sounds like he has throat cancer. I know he's trying to hide his identity but come on. There's a line. Don't ****ing cross it.

Also, thank God they got rid of Katie Holmes.

    I've seen it twice.

Loved it. Absolutely loved it. I never saw the last one (Batman Begins) but I enjoyed this one thoroughly. There's so many memorable scenes and quotes in it. I have to agree that Aaron Eckhart was one of the standout performances in the movie, kudos have to go out to him. I'm not a fan of Heath's really, but he did a fantastic job in this movie as well. Blows Jack Nicholson's performance right out of the water. If he's nominated for an award for it, it's well-deserved, and shouldn't be just because he died. Without sounding harsh though, I don't want The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus to be his last film, I want The Dark Knight to be it, because it was a good film and he played his role to perfection. That's how I want to remember him.

I also have to agree with the Christian Bale-as-Batman-hate. He sounds like Satan when he talks. It made me laugh immensely, but also really pissed me off at the same time.

I hear Johnny Depp as Riddler might be happening in a possible third film.

I donno how much I can/should give away but yea the movie was good yet defiantly overrated. I actually had much more fun and got far more into Iron Man and I`ve never had an interest in that character before. I can`t say much on the acting I`m no expert but I also had to stop myself from laughing with Batmans throat-cancer talk. Heath Ledger was amazing as an actor (I think) but the character seemed a little off to me as the Joker.

    Spoiler:

No laughing gas or anything like that, he was not as wild, twisted but more creepy then anything. As scary as the Joker looked Two-face really was scary. It kinda felt like the movie was gonna keep ending but then it went on... It kinda reminded me of Spider-man in the way that it fumbled such a decent/great character tacking it on at the end of a movie (Two-face/venom) where there was the perfect opportunity to finish the movie and make a sequel with a much more epic part for that villain. Also Its too bad because the Joker was probably set to appear in the third movie (You never saw them fully lock him away and like, he already escaped once without much difficulty...) but i guess Jokers probably done with now.

Well, I'm certainly not saying it's the best movie ever, just one of the best I've seen in awhile. I don't watch a lot of movies, especially in the theater, but I certainly enjoyed TDK. And I did like Iron Man too, can't wait to pick that up on DVD, but that's a topic for a different thread.

Actually, I might end up seeing TDK again this weekend, if I don't end up seeing Mummy 3 (didn't like the first one that much and never saw the second, undead just don't do it for me), or maybe even Wall-e. I feel like I almost have to see it twice just to let it all sink in properly. Or I could just be influenced by my coworker, a Batman fanatic who's already seen it probably half a dozen times by now, including IMAX.

I'm going to disagree with you, Jin. That doesn't happen too often. Any time a lot of people agree that something is great there is always the backlash of people who detract from it both because it was hyped so much and to show that their standards are so high and that they can easily hold in poor regard that which everyone praises. The truth is, no one movie can please everyone and when people hype that movie it only makes it worse for a certain demographic.

This movie really went beyond comics. It was the greatest cinema experience I've had in many years. I was excited to see the joker given all of his potential as a horror movie monster. The movie delivered and I have to say it's the greatest comic book inspired movie I've seen.

Just saw it yesterday, and when it was over I turned to my mother and said, "That was relentless." I loved it, though. I think the way Christian Bale spoke as Batman was a little distracting and I giggled a couple times, but I do understand the identity thing. Heath and Eckhart were amazing. I'm with DH, The Joker actually gave me chills. I was actually afraid of that fictional character. Seeing an actor go that far with a character was really fun for me to watch.

    SPOILER!!:
I hear that there won't be any sequels, and I'm in support of that. After all, they killed Two Face and don't have a Joker and those are two pretty badass Batman villains. Creating a sequel without them? Ehhhhh

ugh, I can't believe I'm actually gonna use a spoiler tag to refer to Ally's post...
    Spoiler:
Supposedly Eckhart is signed for two movies (Aaron Eckhart - News). The whole funeral for Harvey Dent is running with the theme of the movie, that whole "either die as a hero or live long enough to become the villain." By having the funeral for Dent, they're letting that persona die, and letting Two Face exist. Plus, Batman never kills anyone in the comics. Either people die because Batman can't save them in time, or they die because of their own actions. It's just kinda the whole Batman thing to do.

And I have to agree with Sinister on this one. This was the greatest comic book based movie ever. And just quite a damn good movie period.

I saw it and I tell you what Heath Ledger MADE that movie. He was incredible.. I was so extremley impressed with his creative new portrayal of the Joker. He was amazing!

The movie was pretty good... but if it was for not Heath Ledger as the Joker I would like Batman Begins better. Still great though!!
