Thats the whole point with Scream, Chez.
Scream was always meant to be corny, cheesy and lame. It's a spoof of the genre. Unfortunatly for the world it succeeded in the genre of horror and became really quite popular. I, personally, didnt much like it but I still remember being entertained by the first one at least.Found on Review: Scream
"Scream is a rarity: a horror movie spoof that succeeds almost as well at provoking scares as laughs. That's because director Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street), in addition to having a genuine affection for the genre, understands how wildly improbable and easy to lampoon it is. And, with Scream, he skewers it at every corner, using self-referential humor and a flood of in-jokes (some subtle, some obvious)."
A fourth Scream, I hope, will incoroperate all the new technology we have for films and maybe put in some vital things that the other films lacked. Such as actual believable gore and characters that use their brain. You know, stop being spoofs and play up to the genre they have ended up and become so popular within. Who knows though?
I may go and watch Scream 1 now, actually.
