Writer's Academy R2 - Prodigal Madness vs Hyzenthlay

Another month until the end date. So that will be the 1st of March. You two are fighting in the Artificial Thunderbird. Good luck to you both and I'm anxious to see how this is used.

What is the first thing she was taught? The fundamental lesson of her sensei, the one she had carried with her, her whole entire life? Nkomis sat in a small boat with a tiny, rumbling engine heading towards what she assumed, due to the immense size of it, was a flagship. She whispered the answers to her own thoughts aloud,

"Lightening is your opposite... You're yang" she sighed, her eye's bound by a strip of orange material that would normally be seen on her wrist.

She was heading right into the belly of the beast. Walking into her worst nightmare and for what? A tournament that promised infomation on "Silver" which, in all honesty, would most probably lead her nowhere. What could be worse? She was heading towards vast quantities of bright light coupled with an element that was twice as deadly to her as the average human. The situation was always going to arise, however, and she had come to accept it. Besides at least she could take her anger out on the person she fought, whoever or whatever it may be.

Her hair blew on a slight breeze coming in from the south, the lightening post attached to the little ship she sat in buzzed with every jolt. At least it kept it away from her, though, with every flash her lip quivered as she saw the light from under her makeshift veil. Nkomis was no coward, but she was riding into everything she had been told to steer clear of, willingly.

Before long the lone sailor steering her ship grunted indicating they were there. She rose and lifted her blindfold, but only slighty, so that she could find her way onto the ship and below deck away from the light and electricty. She jumped straight from one deck to the other, her feet never made a sound even as she touched down on the hardwood of the Artificial Thunderbird. Without hesitation she ran straight towards the nearest door. Throwing it open she dived inside and tugging it shut nearly tearing the handle off with the force and fear. She sat for a while leaning hard against the door she listened to the fast drum of her heart. She reluctantly removed her blindfold and tied it back around her wrist, still panting she rose shakily to her feet.

'You fool Nkomis.' she said to herself, 'Acting like a mouse faced with a cat'

The situation, in her mind at least, seemed dire. The sounds of the ship ominous. Her heart beat sounded the beat of battle and from what she had read whilst doing research, the lightening outside wasnt the only danger aboard and that was before she found her opponent.

Finally gaining her barings she decided to venture further down into the ship in search of a better point for battle. In close quarters only her swordsmanship could aid her, but out in the open she had her "abilities" also. Without another though and pushing fears from her mind she walked down a set of narrow, steep sloped steps into the bowels of the Thunderbird.

((Couple things... Your character was not described, nor linked in the club thread. Not sure if you read the description, but Toph's ship is more spaceship-y, it's in the sky, not a wooden boat. Lastly, you really shouldn't be editing hours after you post, if at all, as it's a tournament.))

Malaeth lay on his back, atop the ship, with Khorast in hand above him. His dark clothing blended him in quite well along between the two hull platings. Of course, the repeated lightning strikes to the sword of ice made his spot somewhat obvious. On either side of him, the metallic surface was blackened, from discharging the lightning strikes off his sword. The thin air and cold temperature didn't seem to phase him from the high altitude of the ship coasting through the storm. Flashes of light revealed a face that alternated between amused, to nearly a manic level, and pure boredom. Rather than bothering to wander around seeking his opponent, he resorted to the shadow magic that came so easily to him. Throughout the ship dozens of eyes lurked, swimming in darkness. Luckily, none seem to be noticed by the security system.

Not much surprised, his opponent arrived quite a bit after, by means of a smaller ship. Malaeth chuckled as he noticed her veil, assuming either she was light sensitive, or was blind, as it didn't seem to radiate any sort of detection magic. Shortly after entering, in what seemed to be a panic, his suspicions were confirmed when she removed her blindfold. Chuckling some more, he seemed to sink into the ship, though actually sliding into the shadow plane that fringed upon the ship. Figuring to make the start of the battle interesting, he stepped out of the more comfortable plane on shadow at the base of the stairs she descended. He briefly wondered if she could see as perfectly as he in the dark, or if the sudden brightness of the lightning simply was too much.

Malaeth grabbed into the pocket of an alternate dimensional bag with his left hand, drawing out what seemed a strand of smoke. Testing with a flick of his wrist, Loyalar sharply flared as the inner fire surpassed the smoke covering. With a half hearted smile, he stepped in front of the frame that the stairs ended at. A quick survey of it revealed just the thing he was looking for - a small control panel. With a brutal thrust, Khorast was buried into it, the panel spraying sparks as it fed the sword. Figuring the light show, if not the noise, would give away his attack, he spun his whip several times to create a thin wall of smoke. Jerking the sword out of the circuitry, he lunged through the smoke. Finally seeing the girl with his own eyes, he took a savage swing, far short, at her and released the pent up electricity he had drained. Grinning, he wondered...

How long would it take for the security system to respond to an attack on the ship...?

Nkomis' composure didnt have long to flourish into confidence before her opponent showed himself. His pale skin a bizzarre contrast to the dark materials which he adorned. His white-blonde hair showing in the light of a singular yellowed light which emitted from a small control pannel just to his side. A second later it was detroyed by his sword which seemed to feed from the electrical energy the blow created.

The air grew thick as smoke from the broken control panel blew her way making visibility difficult, she wafted it away with her hands. She saw a lightswitch to her left and flicked it, a small, pale light shone from above her not making much difference but that was all she needed. As the light swam the ship she finally saw, clearly, the ships interior. A mass of guilded metalwork and bolts, no wonder the sounds were so ominous.

A second later he was shrouding the scene with a kind of magic that Nkomis had never seen. She thought and realised he had seemingly appeared from nowhere; could this be magic also? Without taking a chance she withdrew the quickest of her weapons, and the best for defence, her twin tanto. She pondered over exactly what he could be up to behind his smoke-shield.

The stairs which she stood halfway down seemed to creak which suggested one thing; holding her tanto out in front of her she was correct in her thoughts, he jumped out from the settled smog and swung his sword missing by quite a distance. She jumped back non-the-less and saw an immense volume of concentrated electricity built up into his sword. He had a mastery of electricity? Fear burst into her but she didnt show it. One blow could kill her and she couldnt take the risk, returning one of her tanto to her side she pulled the orange material from her arm, tied it around the hilt of her remaining tanto and looked at him. Het tanto could conduct electricity if she attacked and would so probably kill her, but this fabric couldnt.

Then, without warning, she threw the tanto out on the fabric and wielded it as if it were an extension of her arm. The elogance of it had made the monks in awe of her at her monestary and she was as confident at this as she was with a katana. In arched movements she felt the make-shift weapons movements, it's limp nature overswept with the certainty of nature. It became as that of steel that she could manipulate at whim, an innanimate object in most hands a deadly weapon in hers.

As she gained full control of it she threw it forward towards her opponents chest. In the dim light, however, how could she be sure she would hit?
