    Major problem

Okay, I've got a problem with a computer that a friend owns. I installed AVG and Spybot, but as he didn't want his computer to run slow, I didn't get a firewall for him. Last night, the computer was working fine and this morning, a game of his stopped working due to a problem with DirectX (Or so it said). I reinstalled DirectX drivers and his video card drivers. Unfortunately, the computer crashed while it was installing and restarted and continued to restart in normal mode. I've got it working in Safe Mode, but it is extremely wonky.

I will try the reinstall again...

...other info: When I ran AVG, it found a HOSTS file among the drivers. It's up to date... would that cause the drivers to malfunction? What should I do if it continues not to work right?
I stopped seeking to be sought after. That wasn't being true to myself.

Lived by the rules you that you gave me and fell apart. All the wrong turns down a dead end street so far. I stretched my wings and breath in different day. Alone and broken is the price I pay but that's ok...

Perhaps, however, Get rid of AVG. This Anti-virus sucks, Try Avast Home Edition.

What should I do if it continues not to work right?
If it continues not to work right, install a fresh copy of Windows.

    EDIT:
I reinstalled DirectX drivers and his video card drivers. Unfortunately, the computer crashed while it was installing
Huh! Why did you reinstall his video card drivers?

    Anyway..

If the computer crashed white it was installing DirectX then YOU MUST install a fresh copy of Windows.

    Good Luck!

Ah yes, don't use AVG because it is useless. I had it and we still ended up with a ton of viruses which made our computer crash in the end. I had the same problem where I installed something and the computer kept restarting in normal Windows mode. It turned out to be because of viruses but that probably isn't your case. I guess you should do what Omega Weapon says because it sounds like Windows has been mucked up, or you could try a repair with the Windows disc.

Otherwise, I have no idea. >_<

Hopefully you can sort it out, good luck.
